I have to tell next door there extension out backs a dog kennel.because there had to have a flat roof couldn't get the pitch fo4 a tile.? 

 

In reality a basic box insulated with rock wool would a been more then  sufficient people live in caravan on the coast all year in one 50 mm rock wool fi4 insulation

Cheers , but in my world I'm not , plus my eyes have gone to shit along with my confidence to travel the country doing weld tests, it's a young guys game , but I can stick metal together, also my supervisor who is a kid mind , blows smoke up my ass as you put it because many in my game are bloody hopeless, I hope to bring on a youngster in a few years so the Germans and poles don't think we're all feck wits...We've had multiple generations of useless wankers bringing on youngsters it's no wonder we can't manage up UK jobs . Anyway I've some rusty box to grind , pics to follow....

The experience I've had was with an ex marine and I'd say with confidence he had the best work ethic of anyone I've met in my current industry and they lost him over a quid an hour's worth three of the rest all day....

Couple of reasons mate, first off they are freezing in the winter and with the damp climate on the west coast they deteriorate like f**k.

Second, IF I did want one (I bought a really nice one for my mum when we fist moved over) they are a pure pain in the arse to get up my lane and into my gaff…..

It was a nightmare getting my mums one in and a pure nightmare getting it out again when I sold it.

Been there, done that, not practical boss.

Out of shot is another smaller concrete base mate, I’m going to put another smaller version of the building on there as her bathroom, gas shower, composting loo maybe ?

I have my own septic tank it can all be disposed of in…..I don’t know all the details yet as I haven’t sat and worked it all out.

Last company I worked for an ex marine was a site manager, he was probably the best in the company, not a selfish bone in his body unlike the rest who were all for themselves. Not the most clued up on the civils side of things and a pain in the arse sometimes but a sound bloke. An agency telehandler dropped the nut on him when they were working at Hartlepool station. Lol

That base was put down for a sheep pen mate and it’s out of level.

So, I took out the falls in blockwork to make it level plus, where I live it’s best to follow the old adage of house building:

Give it a big hat and a big pair of boots.

It will start pissing down every day come October and won’t stop again until May….all the houses here are built in contact with the ground and all of them have damp issues, badly !

I figured if I’m doing it myself, my way, I’m getting off the ground.

Many years ago, when they were building the “Shelter Deck” shipyard on the Wear at Sunderland, my dad was a “Sheeter/roofer, but more importantly the union rep.

He got my younger brother a job there as “ an improver welder”, whatever the hell that was !

Anyhow , all his job entailed was keeping the welders supplied with welding rods, food and drink, he never tacked a weld the entire time he was there but made a small fortune. All the welders were, strangely, American Red Indian contractors!

Well, anyway, today I’ve not been building in the west of ireland…..I’ve been soaking up the sun in Greenwhich by the river ! 
 

Pie, mash and liquor and a mug of strong tea for breakfast.

Then a nice walk round the park, market and Maratime museum….stood in front of Admiral Lord Nelson’s clothes that he had on at the battle of trafalgar (I’ve done it many times in my life, but it never gets old) 

Back out and along the river to the Trafalgar Arms with my oldest boy, daughter and her boyfriend…..sat and had a pint of coke with lime and ice, they had Peroni and watched the river and all the crowds.

Climbed the hill to the observatory (if you’ve done it, you know the score !) 

10 miles walking in all and an extremely nice day all round….street food, English history, bought my Mrs a really sweet and funky little pair of hand made sandal/clogg type things as a surprise,  lovely things in the market, art, being by my river again…..all done with people I love in warm sunshine !

I’m a pretty simple bloke mate (as I’m sure many will vouch for ! lol) and I like simple little moments if that makes sense.

I was born and brought up round there and I just like the place, I wouldn’t want to live there but it’s nice to visit…..took my wife there for our first ever day out 30 years ago, I was a bit lighter in them days ! lol
