Mostly wont be on flat land. Mc has it all over there. Flat but alot of ground flinty. Some bogged out ground too. Summer stubbles for the summer hunters. But once them fields are turned over the ground on alot around east Yorkshire coastal area. Are very flinty. Make a mess of your dogs feet. Over this way lands full of livestock land. Land isnt that decent for a coursing dog you need to go further a field. Its okay to bring a pup on that's about it. Most places now that's got decent land are on fire. MP is from Pontefract, so, he's not always local is he? Around Scunny is only half hour from me, plus down near Gainsborough where I will have perm. Quote Link to post

Anyone thinks it’s nothing, is in for a big shock. It’s almost as if “innocent until proven guilty” had been reversed ! I could be coming back from a lurcher show and get a pull, it would then be up to me to prove I’d been at a show, not coursing. Cheers. You'd get off cos you'd be empty handed...... As I said, i won't venture that far unless I've got permission or a good invite. If you're travelling down to the fens where it is red hot then you are asking to be pulled. I won't need to when as mC says, you can run hares 30-45 mins away from me that are some of the strongest out there. 1 Quote Link to post

Lol You don’t need to have any quarry to be done for “going equipped”. Anyhow, I’ve always used my head , if it’s local , stash the kill, take the dogs and lamp home , change your boots and go back to collect the “road kill”. If it’s far from home, go in two motors , one for the dogs, one for the kills….its not rocket science. Cheers. 7 Quote Link to post

chartpolski 27,323
Some years ago a pal said he’d take me up Scotland for a run on the fallow. His dogs were old hands at them but my bitch, almost nine years old, had never even seen a fallow or run out of a motor. She was a good hare and roe bitch and I wanted to give her a go on the bigger stuff before it was too late. Anyhow, we slipped her on one and she pulled it and held it until we got there without any drama. We didn’t dispatch it, didn’t even take a photo, just broke her off it and released it. We did this because Scotland has such draconian deer poaching laws and we had a 150 mile drive home. Id seen what the bitch could do and had a great night, so the memories were enough, that time, for me . Cheers. 8 Quote Link to post
