Igz 1,634
I'm picking a pup in the morning for the Mrs when I get back of holiday tonight . It will be probably a 10 hour round trip for me . I'll ask for them not to feed before I get there . Take some raw chicken mince with me to give him on our way home . Only little picky bits out my hand make him feel comfortable every so often . Always do it this way if travelling a good few hours home. He'll be fed just raw chicken mince with bone in and some kibble for first 6 weeks . I find if you give them red meat it's too much for them when young. Bit of tripe once or twice a week maybe . Ill be sleeping in kitchen/ living space with him first few weeks, let him out couple times during the night . Someone there with him pretty much constant during the day. I'd say 2/3 weeks it be cracked . Only lazy feckers wake up to piles of shit in the morning . All part and parcel, normally keep pups inside till about 4 month old but this one's our new house dog although I'm sure I'll get him out with the lurcher and bully once he's old enough. My outside dogs are never locked in . Half the garden sectioned off for em . Both soft as shit with people and dogs but come in my back alley and they switch . Tried and tested . Pup will probably end up wanting to spend it's time out there with them though , you know what dogs are like . My bully took some right stick off lurcher as a pup but never so much as a raised lip towards him. May feel a little intimidated at the start until he knows dog will let him hang off him all day lol 2 Quote Link to post

I thought it'd best to go one way or another or if you are using both, feed them the raw in the morning and the kibble later on, better for digestion? He had some kibble as well tbh cos he kept raiding the other dogs bowl. Lol If he keeps doing that he'll be a meal him self for that Akita lol. 2 Quote Link to post

Earlier I nipped in the house and heard the pup squeal, he probably stepped on it, it had the daggers for him, you can tell they aren't the forgetful type. Lol Quote Link to post

Lol Wait till he's older an his balls drop. Head strong Akita , a head strong coursing bred dog. Lol. One of my coursing bred bitch nearly killed my Russell years back. Id opened kennel up at the back. She's run into the house. Russell was laid up in her bed. The silly c**t went in for her food. Next min a just heard this scream. The coursing bred bitch nearly pulled her jugular out. f***ing right hole on her neck on Russell. Wife wasnt happy when she come back from work and pulled up. Lol. Im there with a tea towel at front door on dogs neck. Straight to vets. Vet said very lucky. That was the bitch I was using for lamping foxes at the time. Just a split second things can change. Ad want to see it first on the land. A used to think 20 years ago why would you pay all that money. But when you get abit older. You realise them months sat about paying for sumat that's not guna be on land for 10 11 months. Money you spend on proper grub hours in walking it. You’re the sort of person why this country’s in the mess it’s in, everyone just wants the end product these days not prepared to put the work in and lay the foundations for further success. Raising a pup is all part of the journey no different from a pet or working dog only difference is you’re getting more enjoyment at the end of it hopefully with a working dog. All the time and effort is worth it when you get to the point of slipping and making its first catch wether that be rabbit, hare or fox dog ect ect that buzz makes all the time and effort worth it pal. it’s alright paying money and buying older dogs in but how many honest people are in the dog game getting rid of good dogs ? Ask Marcus how many dogs he’s bought in before he gets a half decent one how many thousands of dollars wasted ? You hear about the ones that do alright never hear about the ones that are no good. 4 1 Quote Link to post

Ive done that bringing pups on. You think hes guna give money over without seeing the dogs on the land. Come on mate your not green scotty. How many has he had that doesn't make the grade. That's the situation your going to be in with a pup not a dog your paying good money for. And im not just talking seeing it kill odd 1s and 2s. Quote Link to post
