welshphil 221
As I was wandering the mountain early this morning I realised that today would have been lurcher day at the Welsh Game Fair in Llandeilo. This show in my opinion attracted the finest working terriers and lurchers in the UK and also some of the biggest lunatics (in a good way). Just wondered if anyone has any old pics or memories of past weekends spent at the Welsh. Unfortunately, to my regret I was rubbish at taking pics so will be great if anyone else has some. Diolch yn fawr No pics, but went a few times. Last time was 2012. 2008 was the most memorable one for me, not due to the dogs etc, but, as you alluded to, some of the 'good' lunatics lol. A lad I used to work with, from mountain ash, was there, with a group of his mates, and they were reprimanded about their camp fire, which, to put it mildly, was getting a tad out of hand!! Met a group of cracking lads from Ireland, that year as well, who were all very entertaining, and a great laugh. Edited June 15 by shaaark

downsouth 8,277
I can remember going up in 94 I think in my pals horse lorry and going over to the international terrier match in the barn next to a boozer a few miles from the main show groundon the Saturday night.Towards the end of the evening a scuffle broke out at the back of the barn and it turned out it was one of the lads I was with had chinned another lad from down our end.Next thing it was kicking off left right and centre.A barn full of terrier lads from all over the UK and Ireland all on the piss. What could possibly go wrong eh? 1
Aled 561
Used to go every year, although i was more into the fishing and shooting side of it saved money to go as i would spend a fortune on army surplus kit, and fly tying stuff. One memory i have is arriving early on the Sunday morning before 9am, and seeing a chap wash his lurcher whilst also drinking a can of lager! Cheers. Aled

Aled I bought a bantam Cockerell at the 2008 one, kept him in our tent for the two nights, little c**t was waking us, and nearby campers, at about 4 o clock in the morning!! Bosun11 537
We had some great times at the Welsh in the 90's. The highlight for us was the International Terrier Matches that Dave used to organise. That one in '94 I was stood at the bar talking with Lyn Harber, the next second a Lad who was fighting comes flying backwards at us, knocking into Lyn. Lyn, who isn't the biggest of blokes, steadies himself, turns to me, and cool as a cucumber says "excuse me Paul" and marches over to a crowd of about 15 blokes going at it, and dives right in the middle of em, fists flying..!! The tables were long boards on benches, and they were full of pints. One of the Scouse lads decided he needed a better view, and jumps up onto the end of the table. The table just tipped, flinging about 30 pints into the air, which landed all over everyone, and it kicked off even more..!! Met some great people in the game there too. The camping, the pubs and the sing-songs made them so memorable
ands 573
Every gamefair since seems a little disappointing after the Welsh. Full of characters- i can see Fenners there now with his hat full of badges at the terrier show and Mike Hooper (the china man lol) moaning at all the money everyone else must be making. Organised originally to raise money for nurses i think?
