Nation wide blackout. Probably a conspiracy to be had here

Was a strange thing though. Felt like the start of a disaster film.

I feel I must apologise…. I was changing a light bulb

It is and it was.
Some phone companies haven’t restore service yet. I’m one of the lucky ones where I have full internet access etc but my mate (Vodafone) doesn’t.

Set off from Porto this morning. At about 11AM our train stopped dead. No explanation of what was happening and about 45 mins later someone mentioned the power cut. We had to walk up the train tracks for a while before we could jump a wall onto an estate/industrial area. Managed to share an Uber with someone to the airport but so much disruption. No ATMs at the airport working and no card payments in the limited food shops that were open. We got on the plane only to be told we were having to wait for 5 hours. This rapidly changed and we were in the air within an hour. Interesting to see how peoples attitudes change when they can’t get on their phones or charge them. People pushing each other about to get to food even though they probably have eaten in the past 4 hours. Winging Brits at their finest because we took off an hour later then planned!! Could always be a lot worse.

840 million people still live without electricity in the world but its estimated Western society would collapse within 3 days with a total grid failure. Does make you think how reliant we have become.

I was amazed how little it was reported on MSM I have to be honest, a big chunk of Europe losing its power is a big thing I would have thought?

I don't think we would get to 3 days in this country with a power grid failure without some sort of civil unrest.
