Back in the day, a lad round ere I used know had 2 Tom Riley deerhound lurchers. Not half crosses , just lurcher x lurcher.   He was very friendly with Tom and used go up Caithness and stay with him every season to run a few hooves with his dog. He always came back with some mad stories lol. Must admit I used to enjoy Tom's articles in edrd.  I was bang at myself up Scotland on a weeks hunting holiday most seasons back in the day, sadly our paths never crossed as I would of liked to av ad a brew and met him. Nothing to do with deerhounds tho, but I did have the pleasure to be invited to Tommy McPhees and have a brew and chin wag about dogs. What a gentleman I found him. He put us on to a few spots for some rabbit and roe fun. How I miss those weeks up Scotland we used to have, got some belting memories tho.

Just be careful lads. Just read a post on social media one of the well known coursing man put on about them lads who appealed about the harsh sentence and costs they incurred for running a few hare's they lost their appeal and have been hit with another grand plus in legal costs and the judge warning them they would face prison sentences if they appealed again and lost ffs the job is feked.

It's rare you hear of sensible lads getting bother especially those that go alone and also if go with one dog at a time and have a good routine of were they run through the season ie always picking n finding land through the summer n knowing it well and looking after and respecting it..

Not going to the same place more than once every three weeks etc and no hanging about and park well or get dropped off and walk to were you are wanting to be just have to adapt that's for those still keen but if your happy mooching about on some permission the same old places depending what your doing you'll be fine also..

Very tricky land some of the places you go not easy to stop em at all n you put alot of thought into the stud n fair play to you going all that way plus drover letting his dog come back aswell to make sure the deed done properly good staying blood if needed and plenty gears both sides with good gobs so your in with a chance..
