That's why in reality it would never work, as you say, people wouldn't agree to living off the state pension for that amount of time. Lol

Yup,no ones going to live off state pension at the age of 40,they are earning at that age and up to retirement, you have to offer something a bit more juicy.

Obviously you'd say no now, but at 20 would you be more tempted? Some people are fortunate to retire early regardless but I'm talking about us bottom feeders, I'd be very tempted, retirement age 40, luxury!

To be honest, at 20 I probably would have, because I never thought I'd get to 70 anyway.

Let’s explain how a public pension works. Money is invested by the Government and that capitol then generates the pension percentage. No way could the amount you earn in 20 years (that is taken by NI) be used to fund any pension for potentially 40years.

Back on the euthanasia topic. My Dutch mate and his family are now in the middle of this decision with their mum. My mum has put DNR on her medical notes..

You see doctors put that these days without asking for permission first, saying that, when they get to that stage you are hoping for death, talk of about inhumane letting people suffer.

Final thought. Goly is demonstrating the arrogance and selfishness of youth.

Oldies aren't appreciated or cared for by the wider family as they are say, in the rest of Europe. We stick ours in care homes, take the houses and possessions of those that have them and farm them out to private entrepreneurs.

Their carers are paid rock bottom wages which reflects the importance they are given. But oldies fought the wars and built modern Britain. It's a shitshow.

Plenty of conflicts since WW2 Goly.

If I were you I'd let this thread die mate. You've made a big enough arse of yourself. Hey it happens. I was once wrong. Back in in 1958 I think. 😀

You're just grouchy because you're 5 years past your execution date.

And my point was, those of the 80's and 90's saw war, the Falklands & the Gulf War, most will witness what it's like being old at some point if you're lucky.
