Fens , not all heavily saluki bred animals have great steam . Breed from the right hard blood and it's the same theory . Not all hard bloods blow up after a minute.  When put to your coursing dogs you might not loose any stamina,  as in lucky

I know I’ve had a pure saluki before that didn’t have as much wind as my coursing bred at the time, funny how it works, getting the right line of saluki is the key to great stamina

A pic of a few dogs owned by London lads in the past. The white bitch was the litter sister to the great grand dam to lucky the dark destroyer i believe. The brindle bitch was a fx saluki greyhound.

No better feeling than bringing a dog on from a pup...giving them a spin at 10/11 month old and  watching it take it's first rabbit/fox/deer etc...no drug comes close Neck😔

I run probably the worst two lurchers in Essex lol saluki bull grey I posted a pick few pages back then got deerhound greyhound x collie greyhound  they do what keeps me happy

@The droveryou've got English men trying to explain to us Scottish about cover lol have you ever heard the likes of it lol

Horses for courses scotty . If I was still at that game and mchull wanted to run me . I'd be running similar land that we have regular for approximately 6 weeks.  Needing the long runs incase Mr right got up . Imho , we have pockets of land like fen land . But them boys in fairness have bigger slightly wetter land . However it dries a lot quicker whereas some seasons we'd be in slop for 3 full months . Also we get a lot of clay ground . As for cover . I'd say the hedge lines around Sleaford and Leicester are outrageously thick and our dogs struggle originally.  In saying that the English dogs don't get so much wire  branded through hedges as u get up here . Mchull,  I'm sorry to say buddy . But if that picture of cover you put up is bad . Don't come up here to run near cover . Some bramble patches along the dykes make that look like a hair transplant gone wrong . Lol .

I couldn't comment mc . Never seen the dogs in the flesh nor ran same quarry on same land in same day . As you know . It can change in hours . Only had one irish bred dog and she was quality.  Although an English bred sire = Rome x chance . Fast killer and unreal steam . Must be from  the deerhound in chance lol

Tomo won a competition one year and was runner up the next year ,with a whippet/grey x deerhound/grey.

Seeing that would give you nightmares you’d never recover from ! LOL !

Cheers.
