Football season 24/25

Recommended Posts

I have not watched any premier league games this season but I watched a 15 minute highlight on YouTube of Grimsby and Utd……4 times Grimsby had the ball in the net two of which were disallowed.

Absolutely cut Utd to pieces and so they fully deserved to win that…..seeing fat Mnbumo hit the bar was the cherry on the cake ! lol

Local media got a fairly decent picture of the boy the other night, worth a share I thought

My nine year old grandson has just been accepted for a football academy in Saudi Arabia. His first competitive game his team won and he scored the winning goal and was “man of the match”; H

Diabolical start to the season for my Hammers although i did place a bet before a ball was kicked that we'd be relegated this season.....we've just got nothing,no fight on or off the pitch....off the pitch apparently we are the 7th richest club in the Premier League, the 18th richest club in the world,we recently sold a player for 55 million and have shaved 25 million off the wage bill this summer.....yet the line we get from Sullivan is theres " no money "......so called " smaller " clubs like Burnley have spent 165 million....Everton 128 million,Bournemouth 121 million,Sunderland 165 million......we're supposed to be a world famous club with the second highest week to week gates in the Premiership, selling out a ground that we didnt have to pay for !....so wheres all the money gone ?......on the pitch we are a joke with players who dont care, new supporters who think its ok to walk out at half time if your not winning.....we always had a battling midfielder Rice,Noble,Parker etc ....now we have nothing, the only one we did have Alvarez we sent out on loan......poor decision making from top to bottom,a questionable board, everything seemingly on tick including the ground, the entire structure of the club has eroded since the move and the tiny light of hope we had in actually winning a trophy has been destroyed in favour of another soulless multi million pound franchise content to be Premiership survivors.

Yeah I think we’re doomed mate. I still find the Potter appointment a strange one. His win % stats are terrible, Brighton 31%, Chelsea 38% and 22% for us. Moyes was 44%. He reminds me of a PE teacher on the touch line. As for the players, they just capitulate. Last season when we lost under Potter it was never by more than 1 goal, we’ve gone backwards.

A bloke at works son plays for the U18’s and has heard theres issues paying players wages, which I struggle to believe.

Might get worse, we could end up with Mourinho.

I'm trying to watch the final knockings of transfers on Sky but that lass with the dead badger on her heed is on. That's all I can see whenever she's on the tele. Fascinating. Did she drive past a squashed brock one time and the thought "hold on...!"

Isak to Liverpool ?

good business for all I thought

Looking on the plus side for Newcastle; we’ve had three great seasons from Isak, he helped us qualify for the Champions League twice  and win our first trophy in over 50 years.

He made it plain he would never play for us again , so it was pointless trying to keep him.

We sold him for £130 million, almost exactly twice as much as we paid for him.

This money allowed us to buy two very good centre forwards, we’ve also strengthened right across the pitch with proven players at goal keeper, centre back , midfield and winger.

So, on reflection, we’ve lost a world class striker, but, in my mind , have emerged with a better, I hope, all round team.

We will get a good idea of this when Barcelona arrive here in two week time .

Cheers.

See Mr. Charts' post, just about sums it up. Isak is on international duty at present, will be interesting to see if he returns to Liverpool with a groin injury and needs a few weeks recovery before turning out for them. Not that I am wishing that on him, honestly not, but he missed quite a few games for us with that ongoing problem or played without given 100% at times. Who knows, perhaps that was part of his gripe with NUFC and was forced to play when not feeling 100% due to our other striker not being available? Liverpool have a far stronger squad than we had/have so should not be a problem for the player or his new club now. Que sera sera.

I had the same thought, Isak has had no match practice and no first team training or preparation.

As far as I’ve been told he’s had sparse training at the Benton training ground, mainly one on one with an under 21’s coach, that’s why he went to Spain to train at his old club.Hasn’t had a dietary plan from the club or been eating with the first team squad.

If he had agreed to stay with Newcastle , I think Howe would have withdrawn him from international duty, exactly for the reason you say, possible injury.

He’s the past, I’m looking forward to Wolves at home next.

Cheers.
