Local media got a fairly decent picture of the boy the other night, worth a share I thought

My nine year old grandson has just been accepted for a football academy in Saudi Arabia. His first competitive game his team won and he scored the winning goal and was “man of the match”; H

Embarrassing.....i said when Chelsea/City did it......if that was my club it would end my active support, and i stick to that.........its a complete 2 fingers up to pure sport and the clubs we was raised with.... all in the name of modern sport/business.

What IS  embarrassing is the fact we had to sell two of our best young players to comply with PSR rules , and haven’t bought a first team player over the last three transfer periods.
Newcastle have no advantage over any other Premier team in what they can spend and are, in fact , way behind the likes of Chelsea, City, Man U, Liverpool and Spurs in their ability to spend big, because of FFP and PSR.

Ive had the embarrassment of watching a team with huge support and a proud, albeit ancient, history, being used a a cash cow by a succession of owners .

So I feel no embarrassment now that with good owners and a great management team, we are finally starting to compete with the so called “big six”.

Cheers.

Don’t mate, we was a bit short in numbers the other night so a few young lads came in to help us out….my boy, another lad of 20 and a quick lad (and hammers fan !!) of 16.

My lad was on the other team and of course, like you do, no quarter is offered or given and nobody wants to lay down between father and son ! lol ……..but f**k me, I was dead at the end !
He is like “what’s a matter with you ya fat c**t” lol

From a "glass half full" perspective, if we had not been forced to sell Minteh, a player that we had scouted and nurtured (Anderson was a bigger blow for me being a local lad and Academy player), would Jacob Murphy have got much playing time this season? I think Minteh would have been 1st choice ahead of Murphy and Almiron before he was sold. Murphy has been outstanding and not many would have predicted that. A big player in getting the points that we have and the assist for winning goal in League Cup final. Serendipity? We'll never know. A win tomorrow would be most welcome 🙂

If we can keep hold of Bowen and put someone decent up there with him then im sure we'll start creeping up the league again,i dont know if Potter is the right man or not but he has to be given time/finances to build his own side but to do that he has to get rid of some players who are nicking a wage based on loyalty in my opinion....Antonio/Cresswell etc should have been gone years ago we always hold onto crowd favourites too long Nobles legs had gone 5 years before he retired !

If not for the fact that the 3 bottom sides are possibly the worst the Premier League has ever seen we'd be down.....i think we'll struggle next year as well personally.

Isn't cresswell going along with a few other older players I think Antonio future is also under discussion as well a rebuild is what is needed but how much do you think potters will get will it be enough or do you think potters job may be under threat given your position

One lad I will say look out for is Kelser Hayden we had him on loan last season from villa he has a big future and could be a bargain for someone like westham when Beckham came here you could just tell he had it just naturally gifted when we had Fernandez from utd on loan he looked good admittedly it's only championship but solid through the season utd sold him to benfica now real Madrid want him Kelser Hayden in my opinion is far better his alround game defending and attacking and brain at the same age is just better

This in my opinion is where us the fans are blinkered in terms of thinking that a huge influx of money doesnt make a difference if it isnt directly spent on big name players.......every single thing about a club like that will have upped several levels it isnt just concidence that they have suddenly had their best season in years despite financial fair play rules.

Ive seen it on a much smaller scale but the principals are the same, money does make a difference to football clubs and not just new additions........throw 50 grand at a Mark 2 Escort and it is going to become a faster car.

To modern fans thats fine....but to my/our generation of fans it doesnt sit right with many,it devalues what we all grew up following if Swindon Town can suddenly be top boys because they happened to acquire huge wealth one year.....its not what following footie was ever about.

 fit as we believe we are, actual competition brings the real truth out mate......very occasionally i still have a little spar with some of the younger lads, the sheer mental exhaustion of concentration you're no longer used to has me blowing out my arse after 3 rounds !

Let me know when you consign yourself to walking footie we'll have a giggle

What i heard is Potter is to have 100 mill to spend alongside a 10 player clear out......if thats true then to me thats a fair crack at it and as a club not known for a quick turnover of managers its the right thing to do in fairness.

Dont you chaps think its a bit ludicrous how either Spurs or the Mancs are going to be playing in the Champions League next year having likely finished 15th/16th in the league....seems ridiculous to me what a kick in the bollocks for clubs like Forest and Villa who have had fantastic seasons yet probably wont even get in the 2 bob European competition my lot won, something should be done about it at least my little Hammers won that trophy after finishing in a high league position.

Absolute pox of a season for West Ham.....Moyse must be pissing himself laughing at us !

Yep, shit state of affairs mate, neither side deserves to be in the champions league... but.. the 100m would be a bonus for UTD now they're skint lol

I think maybe the debate about deserving a champions league spot is mostly to do with man u and spurs size and stature as clubs ,can't help thinking of it was Brentford or Forest or Bournmouth in the final then the prevailing mood would be one of support and excitement that a champions league place was up for grabs ..
