Once upon a time I always had a catty in my hand , had a extended brake and just started back into it .
I was always a instinctive shooter and only ever shot at short distances no longer than say 10 meters at most usually quarry sat hidden in hedge bottoms or up in the trees I stumbled upon .

dug a couple of old frames out and bought a wasp also and ordered a few of these newer bands to try , decided to finally start aiming and ………… I’m fricking awful 😣 literally I can only hit a coke can at ten meters 5-6 times out of ten and not in a decent grouping

really struggling with this at minute I’m trying to get my consistency down it’s how I aim but just when I seem to have found my anchor point , draw length etc I have a day where I can’t hit anything

did anyone else struggle like this ?
just want some reassurance I suppose that accuracy will come once I’ve got everything right

Keep practicing mate. I am not what they consider a good shot though I am better with some frames more than other and that goes for band strengths and ammo as well. I seem to hit more with the 11mm steel balls and the .80 band strengths on my wasp wolf and HGH from cattyshack. The wasp imp I can't hit naff all with it.

I’m trying mate , also have a wasp like yourself the delta wing I think , I don’t find it particularly comfortable to shoot so I got my old mi2 pocket poacher out , marginally better with that … Cut a nice blackthorn fork today so gonna band that up when it dries

if you've switched to aiming now you will have to find your suited frame width bud or you're pissing into the wind 🎯 once you find your suited width which is the width that allows you to use the same anchor point and point of aim everytime at 10m say like pouch corner of mouth top corner of frame (ott) centre of target (target set between shoulder and eye height) or if ttf pouch corner of mouth centre dimp on fork bang on target and use same anchor and point of aim everytime that's when you will improve accuracy and consistency rapid 👌🎯🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👊👍 cause mind aiming down from eye level and up from eye level is another thing aswell ie you have to aim above or below your target same applying to closer and further from the 10m mark 🎯🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👊👍

Ive bought a couple off chaps on here over the years but just cannot master it....years ago i feel like i would have had the determination and persistence to become better but now i just wonder if its an age thing, practise as i have i just cant seem to get any better.......seeing the picture of the youngster above puts it into perspective for me id need a catch box about 3 times that size ......keep saying i'll give it another go as i hate admitting defeat !

It’s simply not easy for sure. Been at it couple years on and off. As said fork width makes huge difference. I am using 95mm not which I like so sticking with it.  I have moments when I pull off great shot then I think dam where did I anchor etc. Theres so much room for error. Ref point anchor point elbow position pouch grip. Then you got different ammo bands. Bloody endless. My shooting is poor but getting better as I understand the concepts more. Then you hit some thing dead level and think great. Try shooting up or down goes pear shaped again because you then have tilt hips and all that stuff lol. Once or twice got fed up and gone instinctive bang bulls eyes but yet again hard to repeat. Daily practice helps but I have to walk or drive somewhere so can’t all ways do it. Like gnasher I don’t like being beat and I know if I keep at it eventually wil get there. So yea keep at it lol

Quick update and more success today I’ve set a catch box up in the garden so as I go out to the dogs or freezer or the bins I grab the catty and have ten shots , today seems a bit of a revelation as I’ve probably hit the spinner 7/8 times each time at ten meters !!

gnasher maybe have a try at what I’m doing 5 or 10 shots a time at the catch box ?

that way if you have a shit say 5 shots your not chasing accuracy and you can do better next time .

never to old to learn a new skill

Just started again this week with one I got given ages ago . It’s got gzk green  bands in I think .80 and been using 9.5mm steel with it and the first time I didn’t do to bad at about 10m and then yesterday did pretty good at 10 but not as good at about 20 but still hit the can about 1 in 3 . Had 30 shots today and only managed about 5 hits at about 15m , quite a few were close but some were so far off I don’t even know how I managed it , the consistency was absolutely rubbish and after being pretty pleased with the first couple of attempts I came home today feeling annoyed . Ordered a wasp stinger and a few different sets of lighter .55 bsb white and .60 snipersling green and yellow plus 3000 8mm last night just to see how I get on with a lighter set up

I've been shooting for a few years now and if i could give anyone advice it would be find out what outer fork width suits you best (80-100mm usually) and then shoot paper to find and dial in your anchor point judging from where you're punching the paper.

For me my sweet spot is a100mm frame and I anchor on right on my cheekbone and hold the frame gangster and aim on my target with the top corner of the frame.

also bands you can draw smoothly and comfortably without too much strain / shake help with accuracy.

wasp uniphoxx frames look brilliant but I just cant shoot them consistently as they are something like 86mm and i have to hold under target considerably making them less intuitive for me to shoot accurately and very frustrating. However I can shoot my 100mm natty clipped off a hedge beautifully well.
