Shows u can't judge a dog on one run. Her problem was she is too good at killing hares. In Spain a course under a minute doesn't count and she kept killing in under a minute so had to keep running hares through each round until she'd taken the edge off and then she still beat all comers, towards the end of the comp she'd run twice as long as the other and gotten broken ribs from a collision and pretty much wrecked her feet. I wouldn't have run a dog in that condition but they hoped with the edge off she'd get through to the final. Alas it wasn't to be. I thought that dog looked good, but thats the trouble nowadays, we all think we can know and judge everthing from youtube clips. Thanks for explaining it. 2 Quote Link to post

I was a kid when kippers cruiser n pip was about but those dogs really did go to the moon n back n slipped on dots.. I remember going out with Fred preston n seeing his pure she was a very quick bitch from what I remember n strong to.. I saw a few dogs off deakon that was good bags of wind and durability I actually think pip was something to do with deakin come to think about but can't just remember I was young.. I ran a saluki saturated dog in the 80s, good chaser, coud certainly stay but not great at connecting, bit frustrating at times. Unlikely but it sometimes seemed he was a bit more interested in the run rather than the catch. The flint on the south downs dropped a few toes over a couple of seasons, sold him to a bloke from Bedfordshire in the end. Edited May 20, 2023 by sandymere 2 Quote Link to post
