Regards feeder club i always thought it must be embarrassing for all those supposedly " top " clubs of the day having to rely on little West Ham to fill the void of talent in their own local areas. Each premier league club wants results yesterday and won't put in the infrastructure to nurture local talent. We all know Celtic won the European cup with 11 players born within 30 miles of the club. If it was possible then, its possible now. Sometimes they produce players and are too frightened to give them a chance. The whole game is obsessed with star players and rely on silly money transfers. I think we've said before there should be a law which says there should be a quota of home grown players in every squad. That would concentrate clubs minds on proper coaching of youngsters.

Hands up, they showed a bit more of the open play in the last couple of MOTD that I watched and it was good mate and that means so far this season I have to swallow !……that don’t mean I’m a Moyes fan because I’m not and never really have been. However, I was absolutely sure we would get murdered playing like we played last season but we haven’t and if anything the bits I have seen are miles in front so I was totally wrong on that score upto this point. The FA played a massive part in that imho by doing away with the 2 hour rule or whatever it was, lots of clubs got rid of their academy system’s altogether.

Shoulder to shoulder the bloke with the greater upper body strength will still win and that still counts imho mate.
eastcoast 4,596
This Tonali thing is annoying. Just when Newcastle were making only back page headlines another knacka messes it up. Apparently the kid cried when told that he was being sold and cried when the coppers came a knocking with the gambling thing. OK, he is a young lad but does not seem very strong mentally or the sharpest pencil in the box. Undoubtedly talented though and a complete ban from playing wont do him much good from a mental perspective. I think in these circumstances the player should be allowed/made to go on loan and play in a lower league. I suggest Leeds, Preston or Birmingham in the Championship. There's chatter about how Milan may have been tipped off about this betting scandal and Tonali's involvement and possible upcoming ban so they sold him. I don't know how much truth there is in it, but why would they sell a 23 year old Italian national team player ? Could end up with a lot of litigation! Cheers.

No matter what it has messed up our recruitment in regard to FFP for this season. £50M and goodness how much in wages. No different than a long term injury I suppose and Longstaff gets more of a chance with the big money signing not being an option anymore.

That's the biggest thing for you, missing a real quality player like that for a long spell and nothing you can do about it, I think Eddie Howes transfers and management has been near on perfect since he got there, no huge Marquee signing, just very good professionals who all add to the team...he'll feel let down by this no doubt
