Deborah Meadon ( Dragons Den) has speculated that  certain hedge fund managers who bet on the pound rising or falling, willhave made multi millions after the 45p budget . Could it be that kamikwarseng was not so kamikaze after all? That he and his mates enjoyed a bonanza at the 'bookies,' knowing full well the pound would plummet as a result and they would be quids in. There's no stewards inquiry and no suspicious betting investigation.Hmn.

Personally I don't think anyone should have to pay more than 20p in the pound tax, if you've done well in life why should the government be entitled to a bigger slice of your money?

I thought exactly that today driving home, heard the pound had recovered to 1.42 against the dollar and thought how many people must've "got on it" at its lowest and made a killing,... its easy money if you've got the money in the first place

Bet loads do on loads of currencies; if you learnt how to read em like stocks could easy flick money around and make money... I can just about read a calendar

Higher rate tax is playing to the mob….no more, no less.

It appeals to the petty, small minded side of some peoples nature.

However, what a government can’t do is hurt people in hardship after helping themselves to the highest tax rates ever for so long, can’t do that because that’s really not fair……not that “fair” comes into it except when they are trying to sell us some bullshit or the other.

Personally, I’d like to see anyone earning say?…under 25 grand a year taken out of the tax system all together……if it’s about people thriving on their own two feet then create the conditions for them to do it.

What's it, pay over £12k currently... I think you need to help at the bottom and top, encourage people to take a chance and earn more, but don't crucify the lower wage working man...

I, like you, believe the petty nature towards the "rich" to be a cop out and easy point score for people with little aspirations or inferiority complex... Jukeks post about the plumber done good is what I love to hear...

Everybody agrees capitalism is the best way forward despite its  imperfections. Everybody agrees we need first class public services. Why is it beyond successive governments to devise a tax system which delivers a thriving economy as well as state of the art public services? Arguing over tax rates is anal. 

If we had successful people like businessmen, medics, academics  managers running the country, instead of lightweight sales reps, then we might move forward as a country.

Always makes me laugh at work when i ear two old moaners who have decided to carry on working despite being retirement age and drawing their state pension going on about benefit recipients getting a few bob more as Ian Duncan Smith said on the news a small rise in benefits goes straight back into the economy same as lower tax rates would for those on minimum wage.
