Worth been out just for the photo , that’s a cracker ?

Bit dark.....

I had an ace afternoon and evening.

First I went squirrel shooting on maize stubble. Not many there but got two. Enjoyed watching some stonechats. The local wild goshawks have got the pheasants keeping a low profile! And there are less crows and magpies!

I used them as bait by dragging them across a field where I got busted the night before by Charlie.

Sat and waited but it never appeared but Jess's nose was going nuts at one point, there was one about for sure.

IMG_20221008_172111.jpg.b3e1cff4d82e8f5833cc7675fbc71c4d.jpgAnyway it never showed so I went back to the car but a dog fox started barking so went lamping. Never saw it on this hilly land but bumped into the one I missed with the shotgun a couple of weeks ago ? and yep, it's truly educated now....it even went back to the spot where I missed it to give me as it were....the finger!

Didn't hear the fallow buck but found slots.

I called on two other farms. Just saw another fox but no dice.

Saw a barn owl and it was making their strange noises they do.

Cracking time but my foot is wrecking this morning.

Ffs, do you ever stop to listen to yourself, you absolute lemon.

Seen two, heard one barking. No shots fired.

More than likely this years young calling after being pushed away by adults. It's not just mating when they call. Every year in September a thread will come up asking if there pairing up early. T
