Pesky Pigeons.

I look after a very nice property, on a main road. The front parking area has a large tree that many pigeons inhabit, which means they are shitting everywhere especially on the owners cars.Is there anything we can put up in the tree to deter them.?

My pigeons always sat on a house behind my garden and the bloke who lived there started getting a bit arsey. He bought a little green box that apparently made a noise to deter them. I didn't think it would work but it did, the pigeons started landing on the houses either side but wouldn't go on his, it definitely had an effect

Don't know if it would work as sun wouldn't get to it. I think on a fir tree it would also get covered in needles and sap
