A local  Keeper  dropped a few Birds o n Tuesday . it was dark so he hung them on a slat on the Log shed anyway they came along the spa for a nibble and one paid the price last night and as they are coming in i expect another to night.

I am not happy with the 55 i much prefer  the 116 or Duke magnum , have you tried using the middle Notch

That one was the middle notch mate, iv since made the clip that holds the trigger a bit wider again, it seems to work a little better but time will tell, I’m not gonna lie tho I’m ready for hanging them up an forgetting about them

Why not the outside notch laddie? I only use the outside notch, no matter what I'm trapping

That’s the one I started off on, an it went well about a dozen times then started with bad catches, I think once it’s opened up a bit more it might be better, but for how long, I don’t know

In what way, are you getting bad catches? What I like most about BMI's is that the trigger system is pretty slick. Yes, I've changed trigger formation to suit my needs, but never really needed to file triggers or dogs with that make of trap

This is only alteration iv ever made, don’t even have me 55s, but in this pic iv placed a screw where I tried the nail, a little tap in with w hammer seemed to open it up a little, a pal of mine told me to try it, an it do seem to fire off a lot easier, but again after a few I had another few bad ones 21008630-3503-4FFD-8FF8-EB1E0CD7829C.jpeg.f254fae4e84e5271555fe803bdd019a6.jpeg

OK, but would it not be harder set off by putting it on the second notch? The outside notch,  is the most sensitive

Didn’t matter what notch I used there was still a bit of play with the trigger before it fired

A ok lad, i get ya. Yea, if it ain't workin to how you like, or how you feel it should be, then working on the trigger or dog, is a must?

Iv never had a problem with the bigger ones tbf, an I can’t suss out why it’s happening. I blamed the kill clips to start with but then had same issue with out using them

I don't think those Kill clips are much good  after a few firings  the tension is unequal which will affect the  release causing the trap to twist.

This little sod thought she'd been clever pinching my squirrel bait

The trap was set a bit "heavy" so the squills didn't set it off by rattling the box and  clearly Mrs Lightfoot took advantage.

A change of baiting strategy caught her out though.  She couldn't reach it without sitting on the plate!20211207_161528.jpg.71b7203f7b099f1a0a373c73366746d0.jpg
