There are a few good lines of Bullarabs here, mostly pointer/English bull/greyhound but other breeds were added Dane, mastiff and others in some lines. They are fast enough for pigs a good nose and hunt well and don't fight at home. I remember seeing the original type in North Queensland and they were heavily Saluki blooded so I agree the name comes from this.

I heard the origional stud dog the bloke used to start the "bull Arab" was called "Arab" put over some type of bull and then had English pointer added. No Saluki whatsoever, but ask ten men how they are bred, and you'll get ten different answers.

There are different strains now, but they do seem to breed true to type.

Cheers.

Yea mate that he is, I like a bloke that walks the walk instead of all. talk talk talk ?

Wonder if he keeps any other dogs?  What’s dog theft like? He doesn’t have them roaming so they not much cop at guarding?

Plenty of dog thieves here in NSW and working pig dogs are stolen a fair bit. I had a Bull Arab from Cauchi lines years ago, only Bull Arab I've owned and he was a great guard and a good hunter. One thing the Arab has that a lot of other hard bull type pig dogs don't have is working sense so they don't take too much punishment.

I read somewhere it was bull grey x pointer and the person added the saluki which gave the Arab connection but like you say only person that knows it best is the breeder ?
