Ther is and has been fir many yrs folk  in Spain and Portugal and funny enough the UK  who are far more interested in the course in its original form than the slay  I kniw it’s hard fir some folk to comprehend but a kill is not the main objective of a running dog it’s plainly a case of different strokes fir different folks 🍷

Loads a shite dogs can chase mate nearly all can't they

I'd double up to points against a galgo a sandys you put the land on

Me dog get there first and kill it

They are sensitive but biddable and trainable, I find them easy to live with, I'd put them somewhere between a greyhound and a saluki temperament wise. They have high prey drive and will run themselve

Got mine in training for the battle of the slop bashers 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🍷

SANDY..!!!!!!!

Mate a uk coursing bred or saluki have much more in the tank than a galago

We don't need heat resistance we need cold resistance lol👍

This lad of mine is impervious to cold. He will sleep in the snow ffs 😂

Salukis in Egypt but didn't make sudan libya when they are Muslim country's sandy id be surprised

Same as Borzois in Russia didn't make uk until modern times, same continent same religion but distances where different when you had to walk or ride a horse to get there which is the vary reason we have distinct breeds like greyhounds, Borzois, Galgos etc in Europe and they have salukis, sloughis and Asawaki.

Your dogs are purpose bred to kill and can’t be topped at that game I think lol  but can we have coursing dogs or is it kill at all costs and nothing else will do ?

And too add...

I would still put my lad against a galgo at 7 years old. Just to see if I'm right, he smokes them in the park  so he must do the same in the field 🤔😂

You should get out there and get some running, there's plenty on facebook, club nacional del galgo espanol would be a start to contact people and see if you can get a run but remember my galgos smoke all the rescue lurchers in the park but in the field with fit dogs is a different world.🤔😂

That's why they had trade routes, I can get something from other side of the world, don't have to go there.

More heat resistance and the ability to keep a high pace over a longer duration. I do not say that you could not get that through crossing to other dogs, but the galgo seems to be viable option.

Due to my local laws I can not legally use my dog for hunting, and so another outlet for her is bike joring and for that in particular these traits would be very much appreciated.

I can not speak authoritatively for the UK, but over here some quarry disappeared, laws changed and so on.

I am not based in the UK, but over here the summer and winters are generally warmer than 100 years ago and the ground sometimes has a desert like quality. Therefore heat resistance and good feet are desirable traits for me.

Generally I would say the galgo is similar in his abilities to a saluki and this cross is relatively popular so why not try the galgo instead/additionally?

If you cant/dont hunt them your musings are of no interest to us

You the boss 🍷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

It’s common sense mate, I’m not of the opinion of using a dog with more stamina than the hare, that’s easy. Like doubling dogs up on fox 🤭😂😂

Very few run the hare to a standstill and when it does happen both have give there all lol

you got to be on the wind up a hare run to a standstill will a tried every trick in the book cover etc and still couldn’t shake the dog

and a uk coursing bred is 🇬🇪

and it’s that easy you would have to go threw a fair few dogs unless lucky to get one able lol
