I got a little present from @Sheepchaser last week, cheers mate. Hopefully these will start doing something about eating down the jungle, I suspect I need more to make a decent dent though lol

Shall we start a dead pool an see how we can guess how they will kill them selves ?

If I had to bet I would expect them to wait til they are nicely fattened and have cost some money in medication or something then, probably the night before I want to send them off, they will commit group suicide by strangulation using brambles they've lived with for months

This is no dig at anyone but it’s f***ing savage how we treat animals in the food production “system” .......i ring my lambs and that’s as savage as I want to get.

I helped the bloke round the corner de-horn calf’s and I just found that brutal......no reason to treat animals that way imho lads, they shouldn’t be a commodity treated like shit.

Out of interest wilf what age were the calf’s? Did they offer any pain relief etc?

Don’t know the exact age but no, no pain relief of any kind and the noise they made was terrible.

Heifers we’re going nuts, they’d have killed us if they had got in the crush with us.

I had to keep them back with a stick so they didn’t come over the gate.

Edited to add:

Based on that one experience I’d only ever keep polled breeds now

That’s disgusting we inject all calves with adrenacaine to numb the area and also use metacam as pain relief. Our milk processor now demands this as animal wealther is number one priority with them. We never even have them move whilst de budding. We have just started using the paste. But my boss being 76 is a bit sceptical of new things ?
