Shame that ,him ,Ron Yeats and Tommy Lawrenson were the original "spine " of the team Shankley first put together ,the genesis of any success we had afterwards ,a decent fella too .

 

 

I remember when I was a kid ,my mate saying he had the best ball control to come out of Scotland since Jock Strap ,  I didn't want to ask who Jock Strap played for and I searched for his name for years ,I was in my thirties before the penny dropped ,that's how fkin thick I am .

Used to love Saint and Greavsie as a boy. Too young to have seen much of him playing, but a handy player in his day by all accounts.., and a Scottish hall of famer.

Always thought Jimmy would have gone first. RIP Saint

He was on par with the bald Hungarian legend famous for his combover, Gustov Wind.

Cant remember him as a player but had a pleasant way about him as a presenter and the Saint & Greaves show was iconic....Rip.
