I like my muscles done on a stove in a white wine sauce. Well I did before I got gout. Does an IR lamp cook them as nice?

I got a T67 and installed an IR Pill pushes a beam out to over 300 + metres but is heavy, something to consider when attaching to a rifle.

I remember the days humping a 12v lead acid battery about burning holes in my Barbour jacket. Happy days ?

I had some sort of  canvas thingy ( possibly a gas mask bag) held onto a wide leather belt by pop rivets.  The battery was inside of a couple of plastic bags.  I think that it lasted about an hour of occasional look round before the light went yellow and dim.  Better than that was an Hitachi lantern torch powered by 4 x rechargeable D cells. This had a krypton bulb which gave a good white pencil beam. Long enough to knock a few rabbits over for the dogs.  I joined a local keeper who had a lamp from the hilux batteries and a centrefire 222.  It was the equivalent of bringing Mbongo out of his mud hut and into central London. ,!!

Edit. I tried every colour of filter known to man but settled on white.  It's  Better.  But then came IR ect.

Are you kidding!? I'll use two candles, an old saucer and a mirror first ☹️

There are flashlight forums where people replace the standard LED's in housing with uprated ones. I'm sure IR is no different other than it's IR. Watch the eyes though as IR can damage them. I wouldn't trust anything claiming IR as safe. I used to have a lot to do with lasers and IR definately isn't safe. There's a reason they use it in muscle lamps to warm those muscles...

For long range, you're never going to beat a laser diode based flashlight.
