the last meal should be lead ??

It would be, believe me. I’ve had the odd one or two escape me but they don’t usually get very far if I’ve got a shotgun with me. I’m good at persuading them to stay for while though ?

Mine would have an aroma of burning ??‍♂️. " Shall I make some sandwiches again dear....never mind love". ?

I like the sounds of rooks. We have a rookery near us. A chilly autumnal Sunday afternoon, chopping logs at bottom of our garden, hearing the rooks sorting amongst themselves who's roosting where, wit

I’ve handled most corvids , the only one that I would say you have to “glove up “ for is a Raven. I found that out through personal experience.... it drew blood ? “ooooouch”!!!

Yep,  Maggies don’t hurt ya, had a couple of slight nips from crows. Never handled a raven.

The Magpie has been catching well for a few weeks and I , with its help have caught a great many magpies around the shoot . I’ve not caught a magpie for a while now . And with the Larson traps the ladder trap and shooting. I have reduced the magpie population to an acceptable level . Normally I would have “euthanised “ the call bird , but he has helped me and I gave him his freedom . Seeing him fly off made me feel good . What are these strange feelings? Am I turning into a tree hugger ? F@cking hope not . I’d better go and shoot something.??

It's probably time for you to assess your suitability in your current role, maybe time for a change in career path.

How about a Buddhist monk??

I think I would of let it go, it’s earned it’s freedom

I wouldn’t of told anyone, I would of said I necked it in front of another one so it could see what was about to happen to it ?

I would of thanked it for it's sterling service whilst simultaneously standing on it's head.?

On one hand I see the damage Magpies do to our wild birds . There are just too many of them . A Magpie population that isn’t controlled is no good for anything .
On the other hand , as a fox shooter , sitting out at dusk , waiting for a fox to show . The magpie is my friend and his warning cackling gets the pulse racing and the senses focused. I think it’s one of my favourite sounds .?

Sounds of the countryside , that got me thinking. Partridges calling on barley stubble,  geese honking in the Autumn ,foxes mating calls in Winter , snipe drumming overhead or grouse shouting go back go back we are really lucky to enjoy our beautiful countryside. Muntjac barking and Sika whistling are all wonderful sounds.

And black birds, cock pheasant. A crow often follows a fox. Jenny wrens have betrayed fox's to me to.
