trigger2 3,534
Has anybody had a carbon clean done on there motor, does it really work or is it a load of bollocks. ive been toying with the idea of getting the misses car done as it feels a little sluggish to me. By all accounts as it’s a none turbo there’s no remap I can get for it that justifies spending the money. Carbon cleans are cheap enough and perhaps worth a punt but a little feed back of here if possible would be good first.

Supposed to come into effect here last April and the wife’s car passed with a gutted dpf. How do they go about testing for a gutted dpf? Is it an emissions test like a petrol car? Nicepix 5,650
I don't know the how's and what's. I was reading the blurb about the new MOT which is supposed to be parallel all across the EU and one of the main points of the changes was to prevent people chopping the DPF out of the system. Maybe some testers don't look too closely at them.
Meece 1,958
lots of things can contribute to " Slugish". ... tyre pressures, dragging brakes, /rusted up brake cables. lots of short distance trips that clog the system. It might pay to have it running for a while to get it warmed up and then drive it along in a low gear at about 3--- 4 thousand rpm. for a mile or so. there's no need to thrash it doing 8o mph and get a ticket or put it in the hedge. it doesn't need to be up to valve bounce and blow the motor but it might give the exhaust a good blast through. I've done it in the dark and there have been embers of crap bouncing along the road in a shower of sparks so beware of who is following you. afterwards the performance is a lot better with lower emitions'
