Grizzlys Protected Again

Recommended Posts

Last year the Grizzly Bear was de-listed from the Endangered Species List.

Wildlife agencies in Idaho and Wyoming had released 23 tags for harvesting under the new ruling.

Yesterday a federal judge has restored protections for grizzlies living in and around Yellowstone National Park, nulling the 23 tags available to hunters.

After watching the John West adverts, I'm confident I can take one toe to toe

Where is the best place to shoot him? Near the fcuking road because I wouldn't fancy dragging him.???

Bella killed that grizz appropriately 30 kl from where I live.  I was following one of its offsprings tracks  two days ago.  It threw big stock!

So the dept of fish and wildlife got it wrong? I'm willing to believe that, maybe the cultural impact on the native Americans wasn't considered etc? But I'm also suspicious that in a time when American politics has never been more polarised, that a judge appointed by a democrat is scoring cheap points on an issue that would be considered symbolic of trump and his 'rich trophy hunting mates'...

10 shots per minute from a .25 Lightning. The poor bear wouldn't stand a chance.

What kind of calibre do they use to take out a 1000 pound grizzly. I watched joe Rogan podcast which showed a grizzly walking off with a moose in his mouth as if it was just a fish.??? I'd imagine a .270 bullet  would just tickle them unless there was a perfect heart shot and certainly you would be dead either way by the time you wait for it to take effect. Somebody posted a photo on here last year and he was standing beside a stuffed grizzly that must of been 12 feet tall.

Possibly. I've not weighed all the commentary from the native community.

The number of bears in the DMA (Demographic Monitoring Area) had to exceed 600 bears for the harvest to go ahead. The number is placed in the low 700's. While 23 tags is a low number and it's highly unlikely that they'd be close to filled I'd personally like to see a higher number of bears in the area so I'm kinda mixed on this ruling.

$600 a tag for residents on a lottery system.

$6000 a tag for non-residents.

Seems kinda low for a Griz.
