DundeeLurcher 51
After a long couple weeks i can finally say my albino hob is one the way to becoming a worker. I got one of my freinds to bring along one of his working ferrets along on day out wee found a set of maybe 12 holes netted them up and popped him down behind the older jill and off he went after maybe 20 minutes and 4 rabbits later they reapered and off we went and found a nice little 3 holler i netted it up and popped my kit down after a few seconds i got a large rabbit bolt into the net ive just started ferreting and was about to give up due to not making any progress untill i had a read on here stating to use a older ferret to learn younger one heres a picture the jill in the pic is next to try learn as shes the worst out the two her name should be peekaboo lol 3 Quote Link to post

Arry 23,493
I can still remember catching my first rabbit by myself unassisted so to speak with my first ferret( a kit i had brought up ) and i only had the one. Walk every where then a good two miles from home, but every step was easy and I felt ten feet tall. I new my father would be proud of me and it would put food on the table, there was no going back I was hooked for life. Congratulations you won't forget that day Have a good season. The one 8,547
i dont want to put a damper on your day but you hob might no be going deep enough to work a burrow in his first season so after hes worked a burrow you will do no harm dropping in a older ferret to see if hes left any , i always try to check on my kits for there first season to see if there clearing a burrow properly 3 Quote Link to post

rabbit demon 302
If you dont have older ferrets to run the kits with just give them plenty of practice. They should be well able to clear a warren by the end of the season. Or at least find the rabbits and stick with them or kill them. 2 Quote Link to post
