No body is supposed to know where you keep the keys for your gun cabinets, ffs my mrs dont even know where mine are. ftm 3,357 Posted June 16, 2017 Report Share Posted June 16, 2017 on one of the shoots that I beat on a fella regulary turns up half pissed with a few hip flasks of whiskey to keep him going -it boils my piss ! told keeper about it and nowt done the bloke actually left his shotgun lying near a gate and was 30 miles away [in pub] [no surprise] a woman with her kid stumbled upon it and police were informed serial number put them in touch with owner and believe it or not he retained his license !!!!!! threw of the shoot after that Quote Link to post Share on other sites
ChrisJones 7,975 Posted June 16, 2017 Report Share Posted June 16, 2017 i don't mean that litreally but there's a lack of discipline from toddlers right up to adulthood.maybe this bloke is a right f**k up and can't ever be right but alot of troubles out there are just knobs who know there aint no real deterrent. my son knows what will happen to him if he gets in trouble and he's never been in any kind of trouble at all despite me being his dad. I can't argue with that. Discipline is now a dirty word but if you're currently in a dark place and you want to lash out no amount of deterrent is going to stop you from doing it. Capital punishment never prevented crime. My issue with the UK laws is that there are few opportunities for kids to be educated on firearms. Over here all of my lads have done safety training with the boy scouts. I'd wager they've put more lead downrange, in their teens, than the average UK ticket holder would do in a lifetime, but then I am a huge advocate for 2A rights! It's still far to easy to obtain a shotgun cert and bullet gun licences seem to be handed out with ease. Anyone with any history of mental illness' domestic violence or GBH' ABH' Affray ect ect should not be awarded a gun licence of any kind. Police and GPs should work together before any decision on a licence application is granted. Police should have access to all applicants GP records. While I agree that people with violent crime convictions shouldn't be allowed to own firearms that falls down when the two people signing you off are anti-gun, and are looking for any excuse for you not have a ticket. I'm sure everyone reading this knows at least one anti doctor, or copper. The only one who should have access to private medical information is the doctor. Firearms are legal in the UK, for now. They won't turn around and ban them outright they'll quietly restrict them to the point where the hassle of owning one won't be worth the paperwork. That's how they'll go they're going about it. As a previous poster said this may even stop people with medical issues seeking help because they don't want to lose their ticket. Then we're back to mental health issues and access to firearms. The recent shootings in the US have been down to mental health and easy access to firearms. Several from a close relative. The responsibility of the shooter is to secure them but if you need them in an emergency you're not going access them quickly. I get round it by locking up the long guns but I carry the handgun with me. That way I know where it is.
