Walk Out!

by 11.30 id had enough of the week and called an early start to the bank holiday!

i had the springer and streamline in the boot cos when i got home the other night it was a right trek back to the house...

so i went up to one of the paddock perms I've not been to in a couple of weeks, it was rife with rabbits the last time

 

so dressed in my finest camo i had a scan about from the highest point....

no bloody rabbits

so i decided to focus on the woodys that are making the most of the good weather, this one was the first taken freestanding

in the woods at only about 10yrd had to trample the nettles to find her

the second was a nice shot feeding on clover at just under 60yrd off the pod..

followed by one of his mates that landed a bit closer!

then while i was laid out having a smoke bunny 1 hopped out onto the short grass separating the paddocks,

the bisley mag did its job and it was one down, i retrieved the rabbit and set off back to a few trees that usually produce a few birds and the 3rd

fell to a free stander at about 35yrd

 

walking back to some trees at the opposite end of the perm i fully missed a rabbit that was oblivious to me at 30yrd .... so while

wondering how i managed to miss the easiest shot of the day no4 pigeon dropped in for a drink from a trough right in front of me, htf it

didn't notice me i don't know! i hit it with a h&l shot just cos it was so close and the mag was set at 10x it was a blur...

it flew off, so i watched it get lower and lower till it just dropped! when i picked it up it had gone through the wing then the boiler room and out through the other side... it flew 60yrd like that

 

walking back to the car i saw a couple of perm boarder liners, they come onto his land as much as the land next door and he's told me there fair game!

 

dropped a little one then mum popped up a couple of mins later for a look!

the big ones not in the pot photo cos its not off back into the food chain if you get my drift, i wasn't to happy with mums condition but the shot was instant lights out!

and a little help as I've switched pellets and not used bis mags for a while.. still don't like them as much as the

h&n extremes but the slimline don't like them

Good to get out Si but too bloody hot for me. I went bunny hunting on a friend's perm, took the first at 57mt with the Impact and left it where it dropped while we sat in the crop waiting for more to come out. Not one but four foxes came out of the undergrowth after my rabbit so we called it quits at that area but managed a few more in a different patch.

 

So nice being out in the slightly cooler night air last night.
