Greyhound Pup

I was just curious if anybody has had some positive experience with using greyhounds instead of a Lurcher that they have brought up as a puppy.

Why anyone would even consider the idea is beyond sanity bud..They have NOTHING to offer what ANY lurcher hasn't got in my opinion.

I have heard they are prone to foot injuries but I was hoping for some positive experiences or old stories or maybe some coursing lines that might have potential in the field of brought up from a pup

Sounds like you want somebody to convince you that they are just what you need.

 

One simple question, if greyhounds were any good, why is there so many lurchers around and so few working greyhounds, you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to find the answer

I'm already committed to a 9 month old Lurcher who's ticking the training boxes, it started with a conversation with a friend so was curious to see if greyhounds where out there getting used to a good standard

Ran a few and they either done there feet in or died out in the field so best going for a lurcher

Mine was keen,loyal and a good guard dog also good snake killer.Lousy rabbiter,extremely soft feet and no bush sense and very reckless.

I had one back in late 90's got her from a rescue small bitch Amazing to watch very fast great strike but spent more time in sick bay than running. Would get into cover etc. She broke her neck one night lamping. Wouldnt get another as to fast reckless. Good luck to you if you do i think you'll need it. Atb

got a bitch here,shes mad to hunt,uses her nose a bit,but i dont let her on any game for the moment ..bred from top of the range sire and dam,you can see the different mentality from the lurchers,do or die attitude she carries with her

So the verdict is they are prone disengagement of brain over prey drive and foot and leg injury.

Would this be the same for other greyhound xs ie the gryhound x whippet and bullx
