trapliner 92
Had a spaniel with his front leg removed six years ago now he coped very well still alive now amazing how they adjust to things like that Quote Link to post
king 12,038
He must of done some serious damage to the bones to remove the leg. Last year the jrt/border bitch here.was chasing the runners down the field leg went into a rabbit hole.leg snapped like a twig they casted it for 6 odd weeks then had to pin if from the outside she right now. But as trap said they adjust to it quite well. Quote Link to post

I've known of some very good terriers that were still being dug too after loosing a leg and with ratting the terrier will probably learn to use it's brain to compensate for lack of speed. Out of curiosity, did the vet give the option of putting the terrier down or did they just tell you they were taking the leg off ? 1 Quote Link to post
fatlad 250
no they gave me the option of the operation to fix it with plates and pins but said it probably wouldn,t work and would need off anyway at some point. they said about putting him down but i felt i owed it to him to try other methods first he was gifted from really good digging dogs and got his first rat at 16 weeks old my sister says if he struggles with anything he can go and live with her 5 Quote Link to post

Then I'll write your biography "The Wedgey story, my love for Neil." That too will have a sequel "I can't live with out Neil, the Wedgey A. Hole saga." 5 Quote Link to post
