What To Buy?

Recommended Posts

I want to buy a spring piston air rifle, but I don't know witch one to buy.... I want it to be very powerful and accurate. I like guns with a lot of accessories. The price dosen't matter. Do you have any good suggestions?

Nice introduction and first post !

Fair comment Rob

Now, lets see, what could I suggest? :hmm:

I reckon if he could wedge a 17 hmr round half way down the barrel of a .177 SMK B2 (might need a bit of filing), then fire a JSB Heavy up the spout behind it - it might qualify as a powerful spring piston rifle :o:laugh:

....... C'mon chaps, give the lad some ideas :whistling:

Pro sport didn't get a mention.......which is better, tx200 or the pro sport?......hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......gentlemen, start your engines!!!!!

Go on then ,,,,

pro sport 22 pro sport 177

hw97 carbine 22 hw97 carbine 177

tx200 mk3 22 tx200 mk3 177

hw99 22,,,hw99 177

hw97 hw99 in both cals will need tuning out of the box(only if brand new as most second hand hw,s are tuned any way)

Out the box best is pro sport and tx 200 just fit scopes pick up pellets and go (once scopes are zero,d in )

hw rifles come from the factory with a lot of gunk in them and this needs to be removed and re-greased with gun grease

and when you have it all in bits you may as well polish the shit out of it and when its all back together you will have one hell of a rifle.

and as for whats best tx or pro sport

PRO SPORT ALL DAY LONG

this will lift your post count up

Mark will be the first to push the tx rat tuned

BUT WHAT DO I KNOW IM JUST AN ARM CHAIR SHOOTER :whistling:

I went for a HW77K but read all the comments from the lads here beforehand about weihrauch needing a little tinker to make them sweeter so brought a drop in kit and gave it a little tune while I had it apart, was a top rifle before, now she's up there with With the best of the best.

I also want a break barrel to add to my collection so will be getting a HW99s, buying a Welsh willy kit and will have a top end break barrel (I hope)

What ever you go for just make sure you spend your cash wisely and choose a rifle that will hold its value in the 2nd hand market.

Welcome here friisarin!

One thing to point out, you say you like to have a spring rifle with lots of accesories. What did you have in mind?

The only things you need with a spring rifle, apart from the precisely suitable pellet is an optional scope (instead of the usual open sights) and a sling to carry it on the shoot and a gunbag or slip to keep it covered-in when you are in transit with it.

You do not need to add a bipod, they are useless with the felt recoil springers have, nor do you need silly piccatinny scope rails or other gubbins to make it any heavier than it already is.

Any one of the spring rifles suggested by the lads here will fulfill the job of pest control. But personally, I cannot fault either the Air Arms Prosport, TX200 or Weihrauch HW77 or HW80.

Arguably the finest spring underlevers and the best break-barrel air rifle you can have.
