This sort of thing is rarely about the individual it's about the virtue signalling media and politicians (and all the other morons) that are using the 'correct' pronoun to show how progressive they are. In my opinion it's no different to the gay marriage law, it wasn't about making things better for gay people it was about ramming 'progressive' values (i.e. absence of values) down the throat of social conservative people they disapprove of and reinforcing their believe that there is something wrong with them.
