WILF 49,576
I have been a life long fisherman, former bailiff on lakes.....the whole nine yards........one thing that's for sure is that you couldn't get two things further apart than a hunter and an angler ! Anglers are, almost to a man, the biggest load of miss informed antis there are and want absolutely no association with hunting in any of it's forms......they simply couldn't and wouldn't give a f**k. don't talk wet-I went to the marches and stood shoulder to shoulder with all the others and enjoy my fishing,I'm a bailiff for my local club and have had my own working dogs for 25 yrs.out of season and when my dogs are healing I fish-I paddle a play boat aswell and get out the river if some toffs fishing on the fly-less of the bitching and more standing together and we wouldn't be in the mess we are in imo.atb dc Well then mate, you should talk to your members more and understand what they think NOT what you think.......show them a bull cross leathering a fox and see how many want to be your chum then ! As above, I'm talking about non hunting anglers obviously. 1 Quote Link to post
WILF 49,576
Just to add, none and I mean none of the major angling groups want Angling anywhere near associated with hunting......at all ! They are scared shitless that the stink may get transferred and put their sport at risk and that's a fact ! 1 Quote Link to post
NEWKID 28,369
Worked in Exeter Angling Centre when I was 17, quite a few times there was some anti shit written on the walls in graffiti and once a small fire caused, started through the letter box again linked to some anti hunting and fishing association, that's near on 25 years ago, all field sports have been targeted by these twats for a very long time.... But... fishing is the biggest past time in the country, its a huge industry and other than them being a complete nuisance nothing will be passed to stop fishing... Hunting (Particulary with dogs) on the other hand is a far easier target, someone videoing a fish being caught will not cause average Joe to look twice, some of the shit that gets videoed of dog work and posted on the net will have 90% of the country against us...... unfortunately that's exactly why angling associations etc will distance themselves. Perhaps a very well put together video would help the cause, but I can't ever see the general public getting on board, the whole world is based on pre packaged quick fix food and no understanding of the countryside anymore. The best bet is keep your head down and enjoy your dogs or rods or both...... Edited January 5, 2017 by NEWKID 5 Quote Link to post
NEWKID 28,369
Just a quick one though.... it's strange how th masses will will watch idiots on I'm a celebrity eating live bugs, beetles, kangroo balls, thrashing around in snakes and rolling around in rats etc... I'm sure that doesn't quite fit with the respect all animals and treat them properley brigade... yet it makes a few million quid each year so who gives a f**k... it's only light entertainment eh!! 4 Quote Link to post

leo1 134
Anglers in my local club are mostly antis, I wasted time sitting bailiff course etc to help club out . The c***s contacted sspca cause I had mink cages running down river. One of other bailiffs a good friend of mine , was out checking traps with me one morning and we came across Charlie to ground , couldn't miss an opportunity so dug him . The amount of friends the other bailiff lost cause he was with me when we dug that fox was terrible, guys he had known for twenty plus years . A pulled all cages and fenns and don't bother with club at all now . A used to do all the strimming and everything else with my mate . He left club and joined club in next village 2 miles upstream . Was a big loss to the club in our village 1 Quote Link to post

Allan P 1,152
The only thing that will happen if we all "walk alone " is all lurcher work will most likely be banned, keep burying your head in the sand and thinking it won't effect you and it will be harder and harder to give your chucklas the graft they need. WILF 49,576
IMHO it's well past all this "brotherhood of hunters" and "showing the sport in a good light" crap.......Just go out, kill as much gear as you can with your dog, have no remorse and f**k everyone else or what they think. 2 Quote Link to post
Haiddheliwr 1,911
I beg to differ the rallies in London proved that! I was there and it was not only the fox hunting fraternity fighting the cause there was all sections of the hunting community standing together! If you think us lurcher men can stand apart from our fellow comrades you can kiss goodbye to what we are hanging on to by our finger nails! 1 Quote Link to post
WILF 49,576
You an kiss goodbye to it anyway........unless you want to just say f**k it and carry on regardless.......which sounds like the way forward to me. "Fellow comrades" lol.....that's a good one, lurcher owners are about as popular as the clap ! Lol Edited January 5, 2017 by WILF Quote Link to post
Haiddheliwr 1,911
You said it Wilf fellow comrades we are in it together! What you are going through as a lurcher man we are all going through! I certainly feel as you do but whether you go it alone as you propose and would be your choice or stick together and make the most of what we still have or fight on together to TRY and get a better solution. I can obviously feel your passion but please remember there are many many more as passionate Quote Link to post
WILF 49,576
Fair reply mate, I hope I didn't come across as impolite because that wasn't my intention. I don't keep lurchers at the moment because I simply had no work for my lad and it wasn't fair. But, if I did have a lurcher still then I would do as I pleased without a second thought to anyone else......long live the lads and dogs out killing everything in their path in as big a quantities as they can manage. Good on em I say and the antis, CA, BASC and any other f****r can stick that in their pipe and smoke it 1 Quote Link to post
