gnipper 6,826
Most ex smokers I know that have stayed off the fags did it on willpower alone, 4 years for me now and never had the urge after a month.

People who 'want' to stop but 'can't', simply lack the mental fortitude to battle periodic and diminishing cravings for a few weeks. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

BGD 6,437
Did you try ejuices with different ratios of VG/PG when you tried vaping? My pal with asthma had to try a few before he found one that didn't aggravate it. Could ask him what ratio he settled on if you want?

Yeh that would be great BGD What was scarey after 3 months of zero smoking was even after my lungs cleared up I felt far shitter than when I was smoking...I think there's chemicals in the tobacco that paralyse the cilia in your lungs so you don't realise how bad they are getting. I even went on steroids for a while, after reading various forums it sounds quite common. I like my nicotine hit and I like my caffeine I just hate smoking. By the way another weird effect of Champix was it stopped me drinking tea and coffee, turns out that it also blocks the receptors that interact with the caffeine. I just realised one day that I couldn't even finish a cup of tea where I used to drink 15+ cups a day....weird drug!!

He said he uses 80/20 VG/PG juice now and it doesn't aggravate his asthma any more than smoking did, reckons you need to find a flavour that agrees with you too though. I've heard the same thing from quite a few folk who've quit smoking and found it made their lungs worse, constant chest infections etc. That Champix really is some f****d up stuff, I wouldn't go anywhere near it after some of the horror stories I've heard.

The first 3 or 4 weeks weren't as bad as I thought but it got worse later and would lose my temper really fast. Stopping is easy it's staying stopped that's hard. I agree though eventually you have to get off the nicotine all together, I find the idea of slowly dropping down the nicotine levels on patches a bit pointless since you are always feeling slightly withdrawn. This is why I'm thinking about keeping the nicotine addiction but packing in the fags, nicotine isn't much worse than caffeine, I can live with having to get the drug but I hate smoking. I have something up with my stomach and smoking a fag is painful as I'm sucking smoke into my stomach. I found a place to get snus online, going to see how that goes
