Ferrets, Longnets & Homemade Soup

Recommended Posts

An earlie start saw me getting up before the alarm had chance to spring into action, my good lady mumbling something about having a screw loose?. Brew in flask, ferrets boxed and we hit the road, our aim was to arrive at day break 5D7DEFC9-AD35-4824-8074-44B6D19E85DB_zps we had a quick tour round with the keeper before he had to go to the neighbors shoot to lend a hand with the loading, he pointed out some hotspots,so off we went,3 baskets of longnets and stopnets and 2 boxes of ferrets. After a good walk we got to where we wanted to be, there were rabbits running everywhere so we set to, the rabbits were bolting well considering the constant wind only a couple of digs no more than 2ft 77056475-3353-492D-B9BA-6B9FE253659E_zps8D608797-8212-4096-8B9F-AC47FA825BF9_zps we just ferreted the setts were we had seen rabbits dropping in, surrounding them with the long nets then running stop nets through the middles CEED9D6B-5E67-4804-BD5C-47F4DC7029DD_zps. We finished the day on 39, then a long track back to the van for some hot homemade soup and crusty cob to top it off. I'd better go and see if I can find this loose screw my other half mumbled about. Bit of a carry mate. I'd have needed more than soup and a cob. Haha. I remember 5 of us yomping about 2 miles over the moor with all the kit and 110 bunnies. Dogs didn't help much. Could of done with a pony. Jok.

Its a fair old walk back down them there hills chaps... well done carrying all that lot plus the bag of bunnies..Tomo used to inflict the same pains on me and insist on carrying the same set ups on them hills.. I know your pains...lol.

Get the dog out and you can ditch the longnets for starters... and work towards no nets and freedom from clutter.. its like a whole new game matey.

Enjoy it while we can my friends.
