Welsh_red 5,001
If i get into ferrets im going to have to give this little lady a go and see how she does . When we got her we were told American Bulldog/Rottweiler but she looks more staf than bulldog . So not much hunting genetics id imagine but i will give her a go . Failing that it will be nice to have her with me out and about and shes small enough to lob over a fence or gate if i come across a padlocked gate on my permission as i have done before . out Sadly theirs no chance i can take this lump out with me . Hes to big and to much of a pain in the arse to take out through the fields in the day . Gutted really because i wouldnt need nets . Just need him to bark at them to kill them or just trap them under his paw Quote Link to post

lifelong cumbrian 1,829
A good marking dog is a godsend, saves loads of time and effort. I don't think it does ferrets any good either running unoccupied warrens, when you pop a ferret to ground it wants to know there is rabbit in, they will work much better i believe. I have had a sorts of marking dogs pure collie, lurchers, terriers and heinze 57, most will do a job if given the chance. 5 Quote Link to post
TOMO 28,539
Provided there broke to ferrets ,,and are generally well behaved get them both out,,,,there's not many breeds of dog out there that don't like to chase a rabbit,,,it comes naturally to most dogs,,,catching them of course is I difrent matter,,, But by taking them out,,you might just find they start to mark,,,after half a dozen little trips,,you might find you have a handy partner...or maybe even two,,,but you won't know till you try... 3 Quote Link to post
The one 8,585
As said most types will mark a hole but all your looking for is a lifted leg a turned head , im not keen on the dog sticking its head in the hole even saw one biting the top of the hole , there just too noisy for me 1 Quote Link to post
Joe1888 672
started out with just ferrets, ended up with dugs after reading posts on here, they make life alot easier, given the choice wouldnt ferret without now.. mines are decent markers, not always 100% but alot better than me 1 Quote Link to post
