If I was mentally unstable enough to own a whippet I would fight the bear with a feather ......

It's just part and parcel of living and hunting in that country. I think they all know and accept that. Frankly I envy the hell out of them.

f**k that I cry like a girl if the ferret latches on

that first guy got out alive apparently and they didnt have to kill the bear, just darted it

I'm not sure if this poor chap was so lucky

No chance he lived. He never had a face. Every shot angered it. If I wasn't already dead I'd have been hoping one of those bullets hit me in the head.

the late clyde beatty, generally considered to be the finest big cat trainer in circuses ever, began his career with bears. he gave up because he said they were 100 times more dangerous than lions or tigers, very difficult to predict their behaviour and you couldnt bluff or scare them like you can with big cats. but he said the punbters didnt realise this and thought they were just big and cuddly. he said working cats gave him a lot more prestige and status with far less danger. if you come across any of his autobiographies they are a good read

The Tiger is more dangerous and unpredictable than a Lion, probably because the Lion is a pack animal.

trouble is, when one lion attacked all the others would join in due to their pack instinct, whereas if a tiger attacked the others would just sit and watch
