Blackbriar 8,569
The BBC are reviving or 're-booting' several of their classic comedy series, for a special season, marking 60 years of TV comedy. These will include "Are You Being Served ?", despite virtually the entire cast being dead, "The Good Life", "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Porridge" - Kevin Bishop will play the grandson of the original character Fletch, memorably played by the comedy legend that was the late Ronnie Barker. "Stetoe and Son" and, perhaps surprisingly, 'Til Death Us Do Part" are included, but plans for "'Allo 'Allo" were dropped, lest the comedic portrayal of Nazis should offend the Germans !! http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2016/sitcom-season http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/bbc-scrap-plans-reboot-allo-8621711 Edited August 24, 2016 by Blackbriar

marshman 7,758
The BBQ should be concentrating on new writers and sitcoms . As a excercise in nostalgia I will be watching and hoping they're good but as the way they usually fall short . People will always compare them to the originals so their onto a loser from the off . In the 70s we had a lot more freedom of speech now writers are bound by not wanting to offend anyone

Blackbriar 8,569
Classic comedy, Ronnie Barker was a master of the art of comic acting. Best ever imo. I still watch repeats of "Porridge". Superbly written and immaculate comic timing - it never seems to age !! On for the many memorable exchanges between Fletch and Mr McKay....... "Wait a minute ! What have you men got there ?" "Balls, Mr McKay." "Why are they different sizes ?" "That's life, sir !"
Blackbriar 8,569
With these feet.... Haha never be bettered IMO, I watched a thing on tele and and it was the writers talking about making it, made me appreciate it even more, Fletch was a genius haha That's in the same scene as the doctor asking for a urine sample, and saying to Fletch "I want you to fill one of those containers." Fletch replies "What, from here ?" Cracks me up every time !
Malt 379
"Are you a practicing homosexual?" "What, with these feet??"
Malt 379
My fave scene of all time, its fletch's face haha I'm away to YouTube just now hahaThat's it mate, Barker had everything. Great acting skill and perfect comic timing. Only other comedy great with timing anywhere near his level was Eric Morecombe imo. Different type of comedy but the same skill. David Jason is another one mind..
