Nicepix 5,650
Squirrels take wheat grain from pheasant feeders and also from the edge of the growing crop in fields. You will see them running from the woods or heges to nearby wheat fields. They nip the wheat ears off and carry a few at a time to a place on the ground where they then eat them. It can be good shooting if you see one working the field edge. In winter when the pheasant feeders are filled you'll see squirrels coming from miles around to get to the wheat. If you see a feeder with wheat scattered about all around it then that's a sign of a squirrel having been there. They scatter more than they eat. 1 Quote Link to post

Squirrel for lunch... Dashed unsporting if you ask me. He'll be using sticks next I've done a bit of feeder shooting and there is good sport to be had shooting them off the branches or as they briefly sit and look around before they approach.
