Wild Camping West Coast Of Scotland

Recommended Posts

Had 5 days up there camping with the Mrs and kids,,,stunning sceanary and beaches,,great to just let the kids run about ,,even the toddler ,,,in fact he had so little fear of the sea,,we had to watch him like a hawk,,,he wanted to be in so much...

Did some fishing and caught nothing,,lol,,,,I did however catch in the two collapsible crab pots first night I tried them,,,went back next morning when tied was out,,,and I had two big edible crabs ,,,3 of them normal crabs,,,and 3 fish,,,they were rockling,,,so we kept the edibles,,and put the fish no other crabs in a rock pool for the kids to watch,,

After a few night going wild we went further north and stopped at another place,,proper campsite, this time,,we all badly needed a shower,,lol,,,

What a beautiful spot it was,,,white sand stunning sceanary ...

Anyway here's a few pics..

Sounds good ugly ,where did you get the crab pots from mate ?any photos of them ?

I've been trying to load them,,,,might have to photo bucket them first...

Just on eBay ,,,got two for £10 delivered,,,,there telescopic,,like a keep net ,,but only 2 foot long,,and about 1 foot diameter ,,,a zip on one side,,to get bait in and catch out...

There's a good few films on YouTube ,,,,a scots fella shows how to improve them ,,and shows him using them and catching stuff

Looks lovely Tomo! Nice to be able to wild camp too.

I reckon I'm gonna have to give this seafood a go. Planning a few mackerel fishing jaunts to start with on Chesil beach.

Yeh I like lobster,,,langustines,,prawns,,muscles,,,,,I now know I don't like crab,,,,what a fecking faf about for a bit of meat that's dry

In my limited experience I've found crab to need some sort of tasty sauce. Not tried most of the above but not found a shellfish I don't like. Much prefer them to regular fish. But mackerel I love and apparently even I would stand a chance at killing a few!

I'd seriously love to be able to spear fish though. That would be fantastic.

Yeh that's the second place we went to pesky...

My old fella used to take me up there in the 70's when I was a nipper. It felt a lot more remote and untouched than it is now. Still a beautiful part of the world though, especially if you get lucky with the weather.
