Thanks mate, to be perfectly honest I think they where or they where more than a bull x but they just seemed to put everything they had into there first run then they where no good after that. I could of been the way they where bred or trained or possibly a bit of both

the last bull x I saw was fooked after 3 runs and it's out often. It's a good kill dog but no running dog, gen bred half x it was out of spoken names.

That deerhound u got will leave them for dust. Good luck to you

First off, that's a stunning looking pup you've got there, and I can understand why you're so pleased with it. But it's not a deerhound. It's a lurcher with a certain percentage of deerhound blood in its makeup. That makes a big difference. Pure deerhounds are slow to mature and expecting one to start catching even 'easy' rabbits at 12 months is optimistic. But if yours is only, say, quarter deerhound, that probably won't be an issue. In order to be able to answer your question about what's reasonable to expect of her at a certain age I'd want to know how she's bred.

Thank you for getting back to me, after a bit of research last night into Bess and how she was bred, I've found out that bess's mother is a pure deerhound but her father is a bull x gray hound 1st gen so I'm not 100% sure what that makes Bess as I'm not clued up on working the % out in a dog haha

no need to get touchy cos you got a bull x. I know some bull xs ain't like that cos Iv seen a bull x that'll go all night.

My reply to him was just pointing out, some bull xs are f****d after a few runs and that's the truth, regardless how fit or how often their out.

I've found out that Bess is 3/4 deerhound 1/4 bull grayhound I believe that's right lol, like I've said this is my very first time owning theses dogs so I'm still learning about the bloods

If she's out of a pure deerhound by a first cross bull grey she's half, not three-quarter, deerhound. And if you want her for rabbits I'd say that's to your advantage. But don't get too hung up on the exact percentages. The important thing is that being only half deerhound she should mature earlier than a purebred. She looks quite small in the pictures, but it could just be the angles - how tall is she to the shoulder?

As long as she is stock steady, and has a decent recall, just get out as much as you can , and let her use her own instincts, she'll teach you more than you'll teach her

I aint touchy your post was just laughable. I haven't responded to any of your anti Bull cross posts in the past, and lets face it there has been quite a few in your 900+ posts. I am 46 years of age and am certainly past getting my ego stroked. I was out with a Beddy, whip grey a few weeks back, and my dog was better at it's job in every department. I wouldn't get on here tarring them all with the same brush though
