Best advice I can give you is,...'Don't ever work cheap'..... Start as you mean to go on,.....the trapping game has been a good Mistress to me...   Always be professional,....be 100% honest with

Recommendations from others is the best option.   I charge per job or sometimes per visit, with farmers they like to know costs, so tend to charge per visit (depends on time to travel, amount of tra

If your planning on charging by the mole instead of giving a proper quote for the job, don't stick dead moles in the traps, or take along dead moles to con the customer. Too many knobheads already tak

Personally I'd try to find a couple of other things to do aswell, man and van, fencing, male escorts.....have as many strings to your bow as possible and go into it slowly, maybe work elsewhere part time. That way it's not do or die, I went into pest control over 5 years and I still do the odd other job now again just for a change.

Yep. He only wants to hear the good side. And if he can't be bothered to look back at your previous post and expects you to answer it again for his benefit, he hasn't got the aptitude for business in my opinion.

:yes:In my opinion,...it takes a while to get sorted in the trapping game,....and unfortunately,...one often has to experience the bad times,..before the good times kick in....

In reality it is often down to,...survival of the canniest...

opinions are like arsehole mate

And there's enough of those on here

If you can't be bothered to read my post properly then I feel the same way

I was genuinely thankful for the advice

I can't stand people who knock others down

That was my point

If you read my post properly you'll see that's what I'm saying

I've had that all my life people telling me don't do that it's too hard you'll never make it blah blah blah

I had it when i started falconry without a mentor and the falconry guys constantly told me I shouldn't be doing it

I succeeded at that

I ran my own gardening business for many years and people told me I could wouldn't do it but I did

It's boring

If people have nothing of value to say they should keep quiet

I hate negativity

If you re read my post I thanked everyone that gave me genuine advice

But the sarcastic lol emoticon and oh it must be redundancy season comments

Were who I was talking to

Yawn

So basically you only want to hear the positives? :whistling:

Nope

Advice did either of those two guys give

It must be redundancy season

And mr lol emoticon

No advice just a knock

I'm out

Youve obviously got a problem with me

Whatever

I was greatful for the genuine advice the two knockers I asked why did they bother

And again I was greatful for the advice negative or positive but the two I pointed out had nothing to say except to laugh at me

Yawn

Its the same old shite, just another day.

Why would you expect advise for free from people who you might take work from, in an already incredibly overcrowded market?

You say you have money troubles now. Starting out afresh moleing will not sort your problems.

The thing is, for every new start up like yourself, some established molers suffer whilst a newbie comes on the scene at rock bottom prices. Crazy, ridiculous prices. Then they dissapear, never to be seen again and the cycle starts again.

Wasps nests for £19.99

f**k that.

I've been doing this for twenty odd years mate

I'm good at it

It was the business side I wanted some advice on

There's lots of knowledgable people on here

And the idea of forum is to share ideas and knowledge

How many guys in the lurcher section ask for advice on this n that

Same as the falconry section lots of guys ask question

I hope you never need to know something me wasp and are met with the same attitude you have

There's. Bundles of work out there

I have a few mole guys that chuck work my way as they don't want to do it anymore

But I do

I'm hungry

And for what it's worth I've always been obsessed with trapping and always will

I met loads of guys with your attitude in the falconry world

Most of the time it's paranoia

I think your In Hampshire mr wasp

I'm not

So you have nothing to worry about

If you have been doing this for 20+ years and are good at it, then do you really need advice??

Since you appear to be a successful entreprenuer in many fields, I am sure being a full time mole catcher will be a breeze

Perhaps you could run a gardening or falconry business to supplement your income for two weeks whislt you really get established

Again thanks for the useful advice

I was asking for advice on how to generate more work mole trapping

What's the best form of and where to advertise

Where have I said I was a successful entrepreneur in many fields?

I ran one business

So forgive me if I'm such a plank that I come onto a forum full of pest controllers and ask for advice on the best way to go about getting set up

Several guys have Pm d me with some good advice and leads

I've been doing it for twenty odd years for customers I garden for and a few people via word of mouth

I really can't see what the issue is other than that those of you who have nothing to bring to the table either don't have anything sensible to say or are worried your work will run out

Nice attitude

Fair enough!

You are obviously determined enough to give it a try.

Advertising depends a lot on your area imo. Some get a lot of work through advertising in the local shop windows. That has never worked for me.

I have also tried the card through the door, when you see someone with a mole issue, again that has never worked for me either.

How much are you going to charge?

How far are you going to travel?

Farm work or domestic? Or both?

These are things which you need to think about.
