Blackbriar 8,569
Find a local club, or a good gunsmith, where you can try out as many as different rifles as possible, in the different calibres. (Give us your rough location, and one of us might be able to point you in the right direction.....) If you're finding it hard to get permissions, or you don't have a large garden, you'll definitely need a club to 'keep your eye in'. Once you chosen a rifle that's within your budget, decide on new or used, bearing in mind that a new rifle will probably need to have a scope, bag etc added to the cost........ From there, its a matter of practise, practise, practise and then a bit more practise ! Good luck ! Edited October 12, 2015 by Blackbriar 2 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
An accurate one in .177 calibre, but you must get many hours of practice in before you think about rabbits or other live quarry, air rifles, even fac ones are very low powered, and so a shot placed into the kill zone is vital, also could I ask that you give our wonderful country a capital letter in your location please (sorry pet hate of mine) Quote Link to post

cocpops 19
I've been fortunate enough to have owned about 25 pcp rifles over the past 20 years. Rabbit pigeons and cords being the quarry. I've had several AA's several Theoben's Career 707, Gunpower Stealth , S16, Logan Axor and many more. So I do feel fairly qualified to give an opinion. I now shoot FX rifles as they are usually lightweight, good if your out hunting covering ground all day Very accurate the smooth twist barrel in the new models are now attracting the target shooters. Shot count is also good in some models over 200 shots at 11.5 ftlbs which is amazing. Power adjustment is consistent,if your in a barn doing close range ratting you can turn down to 4.5 or 8.9 which is great. The guns are also very quiet. I own three and will now be unlikely to purchase any other make of gun. The service from ASI who are the UK distributor for FX is superb. Now for my few dislikes. I don't particularly like the tactical look , and wrap my gun in camo tape. The mag change is a bit fittery you tilt the gun left to change mag or risk losing it as it pops out when you pull the bolt and lining pin back. Two minor moans. Great guns you won't be disappointed.
