Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Yes I understand what youre saying, i think it depends on how much time you have to spend with the dogs during the day and keeping them occupied. I have 2 different mates that have over 6 terriers on the yard of mixed sex and seem to get along fine. 1 Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,102
Bitches seasons always seem prolonged when dog is about but hardly noticed when hes absent .Give me bitches any day . Work is what it is no matter what you keep so no allowance should be made imo. Quote Link to post

Glyn..... 5,209
Bitch every time for me one that is happy to sit there until she needs to push back, the type I've kept means the dogs are a bit rough and spend time at rest 3 Quote Link to post
Rat face 1,655
Any reason Neil or just find them easier to keep A lot of lads work their dogs hard but make a bit of an allowance for a bitch but I disagree with that. IMO if you work your bitches as hard as you would a dog and keep a strong bitch line then your breeding will fall in place and it's not hard to find a good dog that will hopefully be compatible with your bitch when the time comes. spot on there neil, once you have a good strong bitch you can travel to find the right dog, not so easy the other way around 1 Quote Link to post
marshman 7,758
I do find that if someone's bred a litter using good sire an dam the bitch pups are first to get claimed. Although I've no preference personally I would keep either . I can mind my father saying though get the females right and the males will follow ! Lol he was talking about gamefowl at the time but I reckon the same principal would apply. 7 Quote Link to post
