A Few Hours Out

Recommended Posts

Iv been out to night with the hw80 and the 97 sporter as most of you no iv just got this rifle brand new and boy dose she twang and very jumpy to so it was a bit of a pain to get her zero,d out to 30 yards (paced).

You no when you buy a new rifle like this it fecks you off that its sent out like this i no i should of stripped her and re-greased her but its new not some old thing that has been left in the loft for 10 or 20 years .

In fact if it was it would probably shoot a lot better lol

But that say,d i like this rifle nearly as much as the 97 i fitted the MTC mambers to her and after zeroing her in off i went for a wander i came across a crow sitting about 35yrds and one TWANG later it was down and out .

the next was sat about 45 yrds so i let another go and it was out to but stuck in the fecking tree . I then went into the bull field where i came across the first rabbit now this field is 75 yards across from the farm yard fence to the tree,s at the other end (IV PACED IT OUT TWICE BEFORE) so i jumped the fence and got to with in 30 yards down on one knee and took aim and let the jsb go .

It just rolled over ,nice head shot mind she may be twangy but feck me she is good is this hw80, I scanned the fence line and there was two more sitting on the embankment now the fence runs along this embankment and divides the wood land from the field and most of the burrows are along this line of fence embankment .

One rabbit was sitting about 45 yards again and the other about five yrds past that one i hit the first one and down it went rolling down the embankment so i switched to the other one and it was still sitting so i reloaded the 80 took aim and it hit with such a smack it back flipped into the woods.

On retrieving them only one was a keeper as the mixy had feck,d the other two one had its eyes popped out nearly and it was scabbed to feck i just chucked them into the woods Pissed off as thats three parts of the perm now with it two good size one,s to i did not take photos of them as we dont need to see this horrid disease and what it dose to them or may be we do and let the antys see that we are not just into this for fun and little bunny's they may be and yes they may course untold damage to land and buildings when they burrow under them But to see them like this then some times its the best way to end it for them to send a pellet or a bullet and put them to sleep end of.

We have hearts to.

Right rant over back to the nights shooting

I then headed back to the tank and a little refreshment i put the 80 away as the twang was getting louder and took my baby out of her case the light was fading fast now so i fitted the t67 to the scope and off i went again white light this time out.

The next rabbit was sat down by the tables so i took aim and let the jsb go another nice head shot about 30 yrds out and it to went to sleep

If i can get the 80 to shoot half as good as this 97 then i will be well chuffed i can tell you

As the lads that have shot this 97 can tell you lot its one hell of a rifle to shoot just ask VISLAUK (Sean) he hates the full 97 range of rifles but if he has to use one its this one all the time.

And i must say i like the way the 80 feels and shoulders and apart from the twang the way she shoots to i can see big things for this 80 big things in deed

so 4 rabbits two crows not bad

for a few hours out

Nice write up Mac  but i`m thinking of leaving the springer decision for still longer after this week reading your experiences :censored: .

Your Crow Sport is gone, you rave about the 97 and 80 but the 80 dont `alf "twang" a bit - so what would these springers be like in the "superior" .177 :tongue2: what would the "twang" be like compared to .22 ? Probably more pronounced would you think ?

I hope some of the lads will give some advice on the recoil given by these rifles in .177 also.

Nice to see you enjoying and shooting these rifles well Mac.

That's better Mac, you need a counter to keep track of the rabbits. Nip in the wool shop and you can get one of those that fits on your knitting needles for counting the rows!

TW*T
