Falconer77 52
But i dont agree that generation bred lurchers will gradually be getting slower, i think it was said earlier in this thread that its a basic first year of keeping lurchers fact.... Im in disagreement!!! Lurcher x lurcher as many times as you want and the difference in speeds will vary in every litter but imo not consistantly drop. exactly my thinking i don't dislike or think its wrong to add greyhound but to say you NEED to add greyhound every now and then is wrong imho, how is your bitch bread Quote Link to post

dogmad riley 1,348
Fuji - The greyhounds which are brainless, can't turn, are injury prone etc are ex racers aren't they. Don't you think that one raised from a pup and brought up as a lurcher could be half handy? It would learn to use it's head and learn to turn and thus avoid frequent collisions that ex racers are prone to. Maybe not on the terrain you run. But to lads who favour the faster racier typ they would still lack wind mate....whats the point when a lurcher will do everything and more Is that from experience though? I've seen a greyhound in the field. It had more than enough wind and would do everything a half decent lurcher would. I aren't saying it was a world beater. But greyhounds aren't the bags of shit they are sometimes made out to be. Agree with you there gaz, I have seen one which made the grade she was a cracking point and slip dog would take stuff regular she had the heart of a lion but was brainless Quote Link to post

Falconer77 52
The greyhound just deserves a little more respect than he gets the ultimate athlete 1 Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
I respect them that's why I said I have nothing against using a greyhound ,just questioned whether there is a need to go back to a greyhound every few generations ,and whether it first year lurcher breeding stuff as said. As I'm sure thew is lurchers out there that have disproved that theory. 1 Quote Link to post
