Don't live in the city then where there's no rabbits or badgers then eh ? Next time you go into the city on a train have a look at the railway banks , Urban earths loads of multi eyed earths lol.

I watched a vixen drawing an earth one evening when stalking on the opposite valley to me .it was sandy and she shifted some dirt too in the very same manner of a terrier pulling back with her front f

I suppose so mate I'm no expert some of the people there look a bit closely related if I'm honest

Unless a badger could swim 300 meters of fast flowing sea water or trundle over a duel carriage way bridge with no hard shoulders for half a mile or perhaps they could skydive on mate pre ban they were eradicated here and have NEVER been seen since trust me I hunt the land on the land side of the island and shorely that would be the first port of call because I can't sea them swimming across the channel to get here 90% of the farms have game birds on and I'm friendly with a lot of the shooting fraternity and a good few farmers and no one has seen a badger or set here for years oh yeah and foxes don't get on the island they tend to live here not many to ground though as there is a high water table

Small enough to walk round in a day

What do the fox's survive on food wise,i understand there is probably plenty of waterfowl but have you got rabbits, hares and such and also would you have many fox on there.
Any thing they can get mate but yeah both rabbit and hare abound here possibly because most farmers are very anti lurcher even if they know you but there are some sporting ones . Yeah we have our fair share of fox but no more than any other place but they arnt roaming the streets most that are taken are taken by rifle on the lamp Edited by leethedog

They like to dig into sand, as do I when I'm digging them out. Shallow spots only though. Hounds ran one into a hollow tree once in the lakes. Dropped a terrier in from the top, fox bolted from the bottom and hounds caught our pilot in the farm yard?

Local to me I've run my terriers for a good 20 odd years, there has never been rabbits or billy about, only earth's ,in the right weather etc would only ever hold a fox.around 7 yrs ago me and the lads started dropping ferretted rabbits down, everytime they would not get a foot hold, then around 2yr ago started to see a few signs, shit, scratchings and the odd hole, sad thing now is,its starting to come to life but the lands been sold for houses and a golf club :(.I know foxes dig their own earths-and will happily use one dug by another animal.atb dc

As its a smallish area as you say you could walk round it in a day,do the foxs that exist on it not suffer from inter-breeding as if they cant get of the island they are bound to be breeding very very close.
