flipbull 1,139
My pup Jimbo is now 4 1/2 months old, here's a few pics of him over the last week. I am buzzing with him, he is very responsive when he is out and good company. Only problem with him is his eating. One minute he will enjoy a certain food, and other times just turns his nose up. Sometimes I have to stand in the kitchen so he will eat it, because if I leave the room he will want to follow me in, or sometimes just try and encourage himb to eat. If I throw some raw in his bowl outside sometimes he will eat it other times he may just leave it and sometimes buries it. If it was down to me he would have more weight on him, but believe me it's not the case of not trying. 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Lovely looking pup. My bitch was very fussy as a youngster, one day would eat pasta and spit the meat out. Next day not want to touch pasta. Same with lots of other foods. She grew out of it at about 10 months old and is now a gannet for any food what's going. Quote Link to post

krawnden 1,036
My first lurcher wasn't into his food at all and would sometimes go 2 or even 3 days without eating. Used to worry me like hell, but eventually I realised he wasn't about to drop dead and would eat when hungry. Easy for me to say, but I wouldn't get too hung up about it if I was you. Though I must admit at only 41/2 months he's still got a lot of growing to do so it's far from ideal. If he'll eat something one day but not the next you could try giving plenty of variety so you're never offering the same thing 2 days running. If you can get hold of it try green tripe. Smells disgusting, but most puppies and dogs adore it. 2 Quote Link to post

He is at it again now, gonna go down the butchers and get him some lambs hearts for a change. I wouldn't worry if he had the weight to lose. But hard work pays off, hopefully he will sort himself out like yours Gaz. Gonna get him some tripe tomorow Krawnden. Quote Link to post

flipbull 1,139
Nice one for the comments fellas. I have tried taking it away from him, doesn't bother him. Got 3 lambs hearts earlier he ate the lot (£2 for 3, the fussy f*cker) ordered him a Ox heart for Friday that's another £4.99. Sometimes I have to give him Beta puppy complete just so I know he getting enough balance but believe me I would rather it be raw. Got a bag of Greyhound Beta that is for pups and adults, because I was thinking maybe the beta puppy not enopugh for him. He loves chicken Carcasses but used to regurgitate the skin up, but thats stopped now. Always got a freezer full of them. He has knocked steak back before, chicken mince, oxtails, all fatty offcuts from local butcher, guinea fowl, rabbit but other times he has eaten all on the list and wanted more. Only thing I aint tried yet is the green tripe, but loves tripe sticks (dried). I will get there with him in the end though. He is fit and healthy, brilliant at commands and I wouldn't swap him for anything. Just his dietn the f*cker. Had Staffies for years and never had none of this with them. Quote Link to post

flipbull 1,139
Nice dog.Is he second cross bull hound or what way is he bred mate. He is 5/8 3/8 BullxGrey, he is from good working stock, still keep in touch with the lad I got him from, he is a decent lad, he kept 2 back for himself. Sends me pics of siblings, parents, grand parents, parent brother etc with there legal quarry, wouldn't put them pics up out of respect. He might even be on here but haven't come across him, or asked him. Never asked what cross he is mate in terms of 1st 2nd etc I do know he is deffo not 1st x. Still getting my head round all the 1st x 2nd x stuff Kev, he is my 1st Lurcher, but all my dogs over the years have all been switched on, and I know this little f*cker will be to. Where learning all the time, and I love nothing better than being out and about. Been a fisherman for years, but haven't reaaly been since one of my mates got a working dog. But I know what I put in with him now will pay in the end with a little bit of patience. Edited January 7, 2015 by flipbull 1 Quote Link to post

flipbull 1,139
Gaffer you don't want one mate ha. He doesn't look to bad mate but if it's been a bit of a fussy few days he ain't really got it to loose. He hast cost me a rew bob, in waste but as Gaz has said, his come good with its eating at 10 months. Weasel I done the taking his food away, in the mornings he was puking up bile. I come across something that said, this can happen if the dogs stomach is empty and the amount of bile they produce to help with the digestion of food. So don't know how true it is but I thought that it made sense. I know where your coming from with the 3-5 times a day stuff. I do try and feed him 3 times a day 7 times out of 10 he will. Even now he is on to me when I am going to bed and does tend to go back to his food then and gets something down him, some people might think I shouldn't feed him then because he will sh*t but he has only ever done that once in the house in kitchen in front of me, he had eaten, some grass off sand dunes and I had to pull it out coz it was stuck.
