Poaching

Recommended Posts

When we where out yesterday we saw signs somebody had been poaching a wee strip of wood , christ knows why if they had of asked i would have given them a day out .

First sign was all round a tree stump there where at least a dozen holes sunk down two three foot maybe they didnt own a locator ? as there where more burrows like that

Every burrow they had done had a amount of straw there , the bedding contains of the ferret box ?

one burrow i even picked up a nice white 3,6 net with checkered draw cord but the draw cords no long enough to let the net open fully , how the hell do you miss a bright white net ?

even after all there effort we still got 6 rabbits out there

Im getting quite a collection of nets it must cost these guys a fortune in nets every year

Poaching... funny old word these days, sounds all illegal and romantic, especially on here. Thing is they aint never gonna ask, some people just aint built too, I know, i'm one! A 47 year old manager and yet i have trouble 'asking' for permission, always have??

I'd always rather 'nip on, nip off. Ain't it wierd never been given permo by asking, only gained when offered but thats the way i'm built, maybe the bloke that was on your gaff was like me...

There will always be lads that fence hop and freelance,...did it myself for the first 40 years

It is a stange thing,..but when I finaly stumbled onto some private ground,...I used to get right vexed if I noticed that guys had been taking any of my rabbits,...but, as my dear Wife said,.."You would have done just the same,..so bloody chill out " :icon_redface:

Best way to stop folks taking your game,..is to take it yourself...

its only poaching if you get caught , and like bosun11 says im 48 and still cant help seeing whats on the other side of the fence from time to time and as phill also says if I have permission , ITS GET OF MY LAND . but if its born wild it only belongs to the person who can catch it, HAPPY HUNTING

It would be alright if they didn't make the mess i still get the credit for killing the rabbits :laugh::laugh:

Back in 2008,,, when the price of weat went through the roof,, a local farmer rang me to clear a lot of rabbits,,,I went and looked,, and by feck he was getting hammered ,,,it was Chrimbo ,,,,so I had to wait till just after the new year,,,,in between that time jim had been and cleaned up,,,,so my weeks work was just catching stragglers ,,,,but like you say I got the credit and the cash,,,lol

I'll be honest I've been on your work bit a few times over the years, never left any holes or nets though and I remember hiding in the bushes with my bunnet over the dogs eyes to hide the reflection from the lamp as security went by!!
