our 1st x takes fox anytime it presents itself.he spent 2 seasons out with a hound pack and took them at every oppertunity. everything hes been asked to do he has,hes taken some stick from them to

Fuji, it really baffles me how you can say that a dog that boxes is only any good for big land, imo a clever dog that tries to keep a hare away from cover is better off on smaller land where it can ge

if one of my pures pulled back on anything it wouldn't be in my kennel next day guaranteed I have a young bitch she is a s nervous as f**k and basically I rescued her from a numpty but she will run on Charlie at every opportunity if she cant survive in my pack she would be pts also where pures are concerned I don't take prisoners and never will.

would you agree that purpose bred coursing saluki lurchers are a lot better than pure bred salukis

It was me who said that Salukis and that boxing malarkey was boring desertbred and in my opinion it is lol..an art to some I agree but an understatement calling it boring to me..its no good doing that on anything other than big land, a dog could not get away with that style of running anywhere else,ie pasture, grazing paddocks etc: so a dog with that trait is very limited to where it can succeed in its work imo? .. I keep a Saluki type plus another out of a coursing bred bitch so im not condemning the Saluki per se only just that boxing carry on, a busy type of dog is my type but each to their own I guess? As we don't have Wolves, Jackals and such roaming our little island the Saluki x is no different to all other types of lurchers, some will and some won't when it comes to our own countrys quarry..there's no guarantees in this game apart from disappointment when you least expect it lol

sorry andy but your wrong on this one .

There are loads of saluki cross bred litters and a large percentage are shit. Far less pures about but unfortunately there are a lot of dicks breeding pures for coin and f***ing the breed up. Its better to have quality in a small amount than an abundance of shite.

fuji,i appreciate that you're an experienced lurcherman but i have to say that statement you just made is utter rubbish.most of the better dogs i've seen had this boxing style to a greater or lesser degree.they could stop hares on any land not just big open plains.to say it only works on big land shows a lack of experience with this type imo.

No worries buddy your right I ain't got a lot of experience of Saluki types but trust me ive seen dogs run gear and ive caught ALOT over the years..where I run they WOULD not catch regular trust me, ive seen one or two dogs sold for several thousands to run on the Fens and yes they were the bees knees down there..up here they were shite not even moderate & thats the truth..all this "thinking" & "anticipating" what or what not a hare would do left the dog with nothing but the glimpse of his quarry absconding across the next field at best..if the dog does anything other than get it under real pressure and be busy on it they are gone..its ok running one on a Fen for several hundred yards before it reaches a game crop and boxing it but in small fields it ain't happening, they don't sit around clapped tight around these parts as they may down on the bigger land..just my opinion folks, like arseholes we all have them haha..anyhow I have no axe to grind as I have one myself..useless fecking thing but thats another story lol..thanks for your comments regarding my post..I appreciate your time.. Cheers guys

I think you could say this for all manner of types in both lurchers and purebreds desertbred? I will add though that I get sick to death of hearing people whose dogs live off the reputaion of one or more in it's lineage..yes its great to know your dogs are out of proven workers but its even better when your own hard work pays off and your own dog makes his mark in the field..it boils my piss to hear people saying their dogs are out of this and that or littermate to this when in reality their own dog has done fook all!! Next scenario is pups on the ground and being sold on the assumption their dog could/should or would be better than its littermates or whatever? It ain't uncommon infact there's more litters being bred like this then any other method id imagine?..then we wonder why there are so many inferior "well bred" dogs around..oh well rant over for now haha..oh and before anyone jumps down my throat,my crew see a wee bit..I have no pups forthcoming either haha..just whinging about the state of affairs some of the b*****ds who call themselves dogmen have managed to tarnish the names of good working dogs by breeding from untested animals just to make a few £££££....
